0900 Hours: Morning visit Saanane Island National Park & Boat Tour

Take a short boat trip from Mwanza town to Saanane Island National Park for a walking safari, focusing on wildlife viewing and, if lucky, crocodiles. You can hike trails to spot wildlife like impalas, zebras, rock hyraxes, and various bird species while enjoying the lake breeze.

View the iconic Bismarck Rock, a significant rock formation located in the lake near the shore. This is a massive granite boulder balancing precariously in Lake Victoria. It is located near the Kamanga Ferry Port and offers excellent panoramic views.

1200 Hours: Cultural Immersion: Visit the Sukuma Museum (Bujora)

The Sukuma Museum (Bujora Cultural Centre), located in Kisesa, 18 km east of Mwanza, Tanzania, offers an immersive experience into the culture of the Sukuma people, Tanzania’s largest tribe. Highlights include traditional, grass-thatched, royal houses, a snake house, a blacksmith workshop, and the historic 1958 round church, often featuring traditional, energetic dance performances. Rock City Mall: Stop at the city’s primary shopping center for a break. Rock City Mall is recognized as the largest and primary modern shopping center in Mwanza, Tanzania, serving as a key hub for dining, entertainment, and retail. Located along the Ghana area near the CCM Kirumba Stadium, it is a convenient stop for visitors to escape the heat, grab a meal, or access services. 

Evening sunset Views: Enjoy a sunset boat cruise on Lake Victoria or relax at a lakeside venue like Tunza Beach. Enjoy a 1-hour boat ride, departing in the late afternoon (around 16:00–17:00) to catch the golden hour. Cruises often depart from Mwanza Harbor or near the famous Bismarck Rock, sailing past rocky islands (such as Saa Nane or Ukara Island) to watch fishermen cast their nets. Stop at a serene spot for a sunset picnic with drinks, offering prime photography opportunities as the sun sets over Africa’s largest lake, with opportunities to spot African fish eagles, cormorants, and kingfishers.

0800 Hours: Our Mwanza town full-day tour departs the hotel by road to Bujora Sukuma Museum – an open-air museum in a pleasant countryside located in Kisesa, about 18 km east of Mwanza off the Musoma/ Serengeti Ndabaka gate road.

Here, you learn about the traditions and culture of Tanzania’s largest tribe. The magic drums are fascinating at the museum, and in some exceptional cases, you may even have the opportunity to play them.

At the museum, guided tours in English and Swahili last nearly two hours. Later, we drive back to Mwanza City Center and head down to the jetty along the lake shore in Mwanza for a speed boat ride (about 15 minutes) to Saa Nane Island. Saa Nane Island is a small wildlife sanctuary located on a rocky island in Lake Victoria.

The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including impalas, rock hyraxes, vervet monkeys, and wild cats.

Sundowners are enjoyed from the island’s impressive rocky vantage points with a spectacular view of Mwanza City as the sun sinks into Lake Victoria. Saa Nane National Park is a small park, but it’s like visiting a true paradise!

1800 Hours: End the day by returning to your hotel for the night.
