Nairobi Horse Riding 1 Day Tour Malo Stables
Our 1 Day horse-riding tour in Nairobi, at Malo Stables in the Karen suburbs, offers premium rides through the Dagoretti Forest at the foot of the Ngong Hills. The area is known for birdwatching and horseback riding and is part of a larger ecological corridor connected to the nearby Ngong Forest.
Malo Stables is known as Kenya’s first warmblood stud farm. They provide high-quality sport horses suitable for both beginners and experienced riders. Our horse-riding tour is recommended for anyone who loves riding for fun or wants to improve their riding skills.
The horses are very well trained and are of good quality. Malo Stables, located in Mudodo Lane, Karen, Nairobi, offers several horse riding day packages which include:
✓ Sundowner Horseback Trail Ride: A one-hour evening forest ride ending with drinks (champagne, gin & tonic, or beer) and tapas under a large Bombax tree
✓ Picnic Horseback Ride: A more extensive 3-hour ride traveling beyond the forest to the Kibiko Plains, overlooking the Rift Valley, ending with a homemade picnic lunch
✓ Breakfast Horseback Trail Ride: Starts at 0800 Hours or 0900 Hours with a one-hour ride in the forest, followed by a formal breakfast featuring Danish pancakes and Eggs Benedict served on a colonial-style verandah (Minimum 4 guests)
✓ 30-minute ride around the property with an individual guide – for the less experienced – We also offer a mini version of the forest ride for the less experienced rider, who is not yet able to control a horse themselves. Our grooms and guides will lead you around our property, which has a lovely trail and a small lake. There will always be a horseman holding on to your horse so you can enjoy the ride with no worry.

Operating Hours: Monday to Friday, 0900 Hours – 1700 Hours. They are typically closed to regular public walk-ins on Saturdays and Sundays, though special weekend forest rides are available by booking in advance.
Nairobi Horse Riding 1 Day Tour Malo Stables takes you to the best stables in Nairobi for a 1 to 4-hour horse ride into Kibiko/ Dagoretti forest and plains. Malo Stables are located in the Karen suburbs of Nairobi.
Malo Stables is the first warmblood stud farm in Kenya, breeding pedigree sport horses with the best genetics from Denmark, the Netherlands, and Germany. Beginners can learn the basics while more seasoned riders can choose to go on a horseback safari tour to the Nairobi (Dagoretti) Forest or the Masai Plains. Both horse riding safaris offer three options
* A breakfast horseback trail safari (includes a one hour of horse ride returning to a sumptuous breakfast)
* A sundowner horseback trail safari (includes 1 hour of horse riding returning to champagne or gin & tonic, beer, sodas, wine, etc)
* A picnic horseback trail safari (includes a 3-hour ride beyond the forest to Kibiko plains, finishing at a picnic site with drinks and warm bites)

Breakfast Horseback Trail Rides
Starts at 0800 Hours or 0900 Hours. It is a one-hour horse-riding safari in the forest, returning for breakfast. A true colonial, Art Deco silverware breakfast set up on the verandah in the private home.
Breakfast includes traditional Danish pancakes, eggs Benedict – a traditional American brunch, Greek Yogurt with Honey and Fruit in the Karen Blixen/ 1910 house at 0930 Hours or 1030 Hours.
Sundowner Horseback Trail Rides
Include an hour of horse riding, and champagne, gin & tonic/ or beer/ sodas around the big Kapok tree in our yard, on wooden benches and safari chairs, with shawls to wrap yourself in as the night falls.
Picnic Horseback Rides:
A minimum of 3 guests is required for a departure. The horseback tour departs at 0930 hours and travels beyond the forest to Kenya’s Kiboko plains overlooking the Rift Valley. Horse-riders enjoy views of Tanzania, the Masai’s holy mountain, ‘Ol Doniyo Lengai.’ The ride finishes at the picnic site on the escarpment at about 1200 Hours.
Here, you can enjoy homemade food and cold drinks. The food includes famous Mozambican/Portuguese Rissois de Camarão (prawn), crispy Beef Samosas, spicy Beef Sausages, Honey-roasted chicken wings, Thai vegetable dim sum, baguette, and a small selection of Brown’s cheese.
Drinks include wine, beers, juice, sodas, and sparkling water. Spirits or any other drinks can be requested at an extra cost.
Horse Riding Lessons/ Instruction: Beginners can go on a quiet walk for a one-on-one lunge/ riding lesson as follows:
