Namiri Plains Camp Serengeti Tanzania

Namiri Plains Camp Serengeti Tanzania – Namiri Plains is a luxury simple and exclusive camp situated on the eastern border of the Serengeti, approximately an hour and a half drive from the central Seronera region.

Namiri Plains Camp is the perfect place to see the wild predators of the Serengeti. The area (sat on the eastern border of the Serengeti) was previously a cheetah conservation and today, not only is it regarded as one of the most densely populated cheetah regions in East Africa but the other predators are often seen on game drives too.

The region is also good for big cats because the area was previously used for cheetah conservation. On top of that, during November and December, it is possible to see the wildebeest migration as they make their way down from the Masai Mara in Kenya to the southern plains of the Serengeti.

Namiri Plains is a small and intimate tented camp, with eight canvassed suites and beautifully designed mess tents. The camp is in an exclusive area, with grassy plains and iconic acacia trees as far as you can see. The camp is one of the most isolated and secluded camps in the central Serengeti region.

Namiri Plains Camp is very private, their views spectacular. Each consists of a double bed, veranda, bathroom, and seating. The bed is beautiful, large, and very comfortable, the furnishings were well chosen, the brass paneled divide the only properly decorative piece of furniture. Additionally, Wi-Fi is accessible across the camp.  All in all, a wonderfully simple stay.

The lounge area has elegant sofas and soft lighting to immediately relax you at the end of an exciting day and your meals are served in the comfortable dining tent, after, of course, a drink or two around the fire with your fellow campmates.

The eight suites are carefully designed with comfort and elegance in mind. They each have king-sized beds, en-suite bathrooms with flushing toilets, and hot running water and if you can’t get enough of Africa’s starlit sky, then the outdoor shower is definitely one to try. There is also a family tent that is divided by a canvas partition, connecting two twin beds and a double room.

Namiri Plains has an expansive lounge and dining area. With a multitude of comfy seating options, an inviting bar, and a large deck, this area is a lovely spot to drink, dine and enjoy the views – frequently featuring lions, buffalo, giraffe, and other wildlife.

The camp also has a swimming pool and outdoor lounge area. It’s possible to spot wildlife from the pool itself, although the chilly temperature would be described as ‘refreshing’ at best. Schedule a massage in the spa or feed your mind in the library and information center, or simply chill out and soak up the views from your own private deck.

Activities available at Namiri Plains Camp include;  Game drives, walking safaris, Photographic safaris, Visit the spa, and hot air balloon rides.  There is also an opportunity to see the cheetah research project, where you will learn all about the endangered big cats.

While exploring the grasslands close to Namiri Plains, you might be fortunate enough to come face to face with one of our most beautiful and unique wildcats – Manja, the melanistic serval. He is quite the celebrity in the Serengeti and has been featured globally by the likes of BBC Earth and The Discovery Channel.
