Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge is a luxury lodge centrally situated on the northern Safari Circuit in Tanzania, close to Lake Manyara National Park and the gate to Ngorongoro Crater.  

The lodge is situated in Ayalbe village, Karatu, 130km from Arusha and 4.4 km from the main road. Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge sits next to the magnificent Ngorongoro Forest on fifteen fully fenced acres.

Located between forest and open land, the ecosystem supports many interesting birds including the rare White-tailed Blue-flycatcher, the beautiful African Paradise fly-catcher, weavers, African Harrier-Hawk, and Augur Buzzard. Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge is a real birders’ paradise.

Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge has 12 En-suites Luxury Tents & 8 Lodge Rooms situated under a canopy of acacia and other indigenous trees and connected by a wooden walkway. Some tents come with an outdoor shower as well as an indoor one. Triples are possible and family tents are also available.

Each tent has a spacious veranda where you can relax and enjoy the view of the Ngorongoro Forest, listening to the sounds of birds flitting through the trees—comfortably furnished with double or twin beds, crisp linen, and warm blankets for our cool nights.

Meals are continental style, prepared by talented chefs and served by competent staff in the rustic yet comfortable main area that’s a combined bar, lounge, and dining room.

Using Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge as a base for a few days you can also visit Tarangire National Park (about 1hr 30mins away) and Lake Eyasi (30mins away) as well as explore the region around Karatu where there are many hiking/walking opportunities and possibilities for cultural exchanges.
