Nshongi Camp Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Nshongi Camp Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a budget-friendly lodge situated in the Rushaga Region, a few meters from the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in southwest Uganda. The camp is situated 5 minutes walk from the southern gate of Bwindi. Kisoro is the closest big city, 32 Km while Kabale is 54 km from the camp.
The Camp is the perfect location to start your Gorilla tracking, in fact, it’s the only place in Uganda and in the world where you can track FIVE different Gorilla Groups, Nshongi, Mishaya, Kahungye, Busingye, and Bweza. Nshongi Camp is just a few minutes walk to the Ugandan Wildlife Service hut, the starting point of the Gorilla tracking.
Nshongi Camp is the ideal base for Gorilla tracking, viewing, and birding, several of the 315 bird species, many of them endemics and monkeys can be seen here. Sometimes at night, even the bush elephants come close to the camp.
Nshongi Camp Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has different types of accommodations, a few meters from the forest, camping is possible with your tent. The lodge has 4 traditional bandas accommodating up to 8 guests. Each banda is fitted with a seating area and mosquito net.
At the camp, all rooms are fitted with a balcony with a mountain view. Featuring a private bathroom with a shower and slippers, rooms at Nshongi Camp also have a garden view.
There is a restaurant, campfire area, and barbecue facilities. 3-course meals are served, and lunch boxes can be prepared for your tracking. Hot coffee, tea, and drinks are always available. Guests can dine under the stars and relax by the roaring campfire.
Activities from Nshongi Camp include; Gorilla Tracking, Guided Bird watching (315 species, many endemics), Guided Bird watching inside the National Park and waterfall visit, a Community walk, a visit to the local school, women’s handicrafts, a visit to the waterfalls and to the caves, Tea Plantation Tour, Gorilla Dance, Transport, etc.
