OL Gaboli Community Lodge Laikipia
Ol Gaboli Community Lodge Laikipia is a fully-catered luxury safari lodge located on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River within the 15,000-acre Naibunga Conservancy (Il Motiok Group Ranch) in Laikipia, northern Kenya.
The lodge sits approximately 75 km from Nanyuki town (a 1.5–2-hour drive) and about 4.5 hours by road from Nairobi. Ol Gaboli is also accessible via charter flights to nearby airstrips, followed by a short road transfer.
The lodge is the only tourism facility in Sub-Saharan Africa that is fully owned by an all-women pastoralist group. Its name, “Ol Gaboli,” is derived from the Maasai word for “Fig Tree,” inspired by the massive fig tree that stands proudly at the front of the lodge, which is also home to a resident family of African owls.
Ol Gaboli has five comfortable bandas that meander along the river, offering privacy and spectacular views. Each room has an ensuite, private terrace, and an internet connection.
Your rate includes meals and the hospitality of our lodge team, from the chefs to the guides and rangers!
Ol Gaboli Community Lodge Laikipia Accommodation
Ol Gaboli Community Lodge features five comfortable river-facing bandas (rooms) that wind along a bend of the Ewaso Nyiro River, offering serene views and privacy.
Each banda includes a king-size bed, an ensuite bathroom with Cinnabar Green products, Wi-Fi connectivity via Starlink, and an optional single bed to accommodate families or groups. Verandas provide space for morning coffee or private meals upon request.
Guests can enjoy their meals and leisure time in the central banda, which overlooks the river. Meals—prepared fresh daily—are included in the rate and served by a welcoming team of hosts. The lodge’s setting allows visitors to witness wildlife such as elephants, Grevy’s zebras, giraffes, lions, and more
Ol Gaboli has been around for two decades, but is now managed jointly between the community and new partners. The lodge has been renovated but maintains a relaxed, bare-foot luxury feel. Ol Gaboli is in the heart of Laikipia, with elephants, giraffes, and the larger cats all around. If you’re lucky, you may spot wild dogs below the camp.
