Ol Malo House and Lodge is an owner-run and hosted property in an absolutely stunning setting in Laikipia. Ol Malo is a privately-owned family ranch and game sanctuary in Kenya’s wild Northern Laikipia Province, the heartland of the Samburu tribe.

For just a handful of guests at a time, Ol Malo offers the perfect mix of comfort, luxury, and life in harmony with nature. By air, scheduled flights from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport land at Loisaba Airstrip followed by a 50-minute direct transfer to Ol Malo Lodge.

Private charter flights land at Ol Malo Airstrip. The driving time from Nairobi is 6 hours. You can choose to stay at the Ol Malo Lodge, hosted by Ol Malo founders Rocky and Colin and best for couples and honeymooners, or at Ol Malo House, ideal for larger groups, families, and active guests and hosted by Rocky and Colin’s son Andrew and his wife.

The accommodation at Ol Malo is either in The Lodge or in The House. The Lodge has four individual cottages all with ensuite bathrooms. The House is split into three units, The House, Hippo Cottage, and Crocodile.

The House has three ensuite bedrooms, Hippo has two ensuite bedrooms with a shared living area and Crocodile is one bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. The cottages are all charming olive-wood en-suites, with a centerpiece bathtub and large picture windows to soak in both the bubbles and the views!

The lodge has a mobile camp called Ol Malo Nomad, a small lightweight mobile camp, that offers private groups the chance to explore the wild on foot, horseback, camel, or in a helicopter.

There is also Ol Malo Treehouse and Leopard Hide which are offered to guests as a complimentary for overnight activities. Soak in the infinity pool, sip sundowners while admiring the vistas, enjoy delicious meals hosted by the family and meet interesting new people.

Ol Malo is very activity-based, and no wonder with a huge amount on offer, including camel riding, horse riding, game drives (both day and night), game walks, mountain biking, ranch life experiences, and tubing. You can even spend a day flying up to Lake Turkana in their helicopter flown by Andrew himself!

Ol Malo’s relationship with the local people also allows cultural visits to the villages and homes of the Samburu people to see their way of living. As additional activities, fly camping and helicopter rides, piloted by the Francombe’s son, Andrew, can be arranged for a memorable high!
