Olkeramatian Conservancy Flying Safari 2 Days 1 Night

Olkeramatian Conservancy Flying Safari 2 Days 1 Night offers an all-inclusive, private getaway that allows guests to enjoy an authentic safari experience in the lap of luxury. Hidden deep in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, Lentorre caters to any kind of holiday – whether it is a family getaway, honeymoon, or a simple break from everyday life.

Olkeramatian Conservancy is located deep in the Great Rift Valley approximately 42 km from Lake Magadi towards the Nguruman Escarpment. The Nguruman Escarpment forms the western wall of the Great Rift Valley and is in southern Kenya.

The only accommodation in Olkeramatian Conservancy is Lentorre Lodge – a small and elegant facility that provides the perfect spot to relax and soak in the wonders of a wild and untouched Africa.

Guests can drive in, or fly by charter to two airstrips. The main airstrip is about a 25-30 minute game drive to camp, and the Magadi airstrip (which is all-weather) is about an hour and a half from camp and is used when doing Flamingo excursions for guests.

Latorre and the Olkeramatian and Shompole ranches are unique being one of the few areas in Africa where Wildlife and Livestock co-exist in harmony, each utilizing the resources (pasture and water) at different times and creating what they call a mini migration each day around the Ewaso Ngiro River.

Latorre is set on a spur running off the Nguruman Escarpment beside a natural spring in the Olkeramatian Conservancy and it provides uninhibited views of Mt Shompole, Ol Donyo Gelai, and the active volcano Ol Donyo Lengai.

Animals in the area include impala, dik-dik, kudu (greater and lesser), grants gazelle, oryx, bushbuck, zebra, waterbuck, gerenuk, giraffe, elephant, lions, leopards, cheetah, aardwolf, striped and spotted hyena, warthog, colobus monkey, vervet monkeys, genet, civet, wild cat, bush babies, porcupine, zorilla, bat-eared foxes, honey badgers, etc.

Activities in Olkeramatian Conservancy include game drives (morning, evening, and night – off-road with no time limits on return to camp), Colobus monkey viewing, Sundowners, Maasai Boma visits, Walking, School Visits, Baboon Walks, Relaxing, Flamingo viewing, etc.

Safari Itinerary in Detail

Day 1: Nairobi – Fly to Olkeramatian Conservancy

0800 Hours: The Safari begins with a charter flight/ Helicopter flight from Nairobi to Nguruman escarpments, in the heart of the Olkirimatian Conservancy. The flight over vast and unspoiled scenery and the advisability from the helicopter are quite incredible.

The private charter lands at Olkeramatian Conservancy’s main airstrip which is about a 25-30 minute game drive to Lentorre Lodge (the only lodge in the Olkeramatian Conservancy). Latorre Lodge is a small and elegant facility that provides the perfect spot to relax and soak in the wonders of a wild and untouched Africa.

1300 Hours: Lunch is served in the dining area, which is located after the communal pool.  Later relax or visit the lodge underground blind with a tunnel leading into it which guarantees daily action.

The blind is right on the waterhole allowing guests and their camera lenses to be at eye level with the water. Large herds of zebra, impala, monkeys, and baboon troops visit the waterhole in the mornings and afternoons.

1530 Hours: Enjoy tea/ coffee, before embarking on a game drive. Olkeramatian Conservancy is home to wildebeests, colobus monkeys, impala, waterbuck, zebra, giraffe, gazelle and eland, hyena, Elephant, Buffalo, leopard, genets, civets, aardwolf, porcupine!

1800 Hours: As the sun began to set, you enjoy sundowners somewhere in the bush. There’s nothing quite like watching the sun go down in the African bush!

1900 Hours: Embarked on a night game drive, which allowed you to see more of the secretive and nocturnal animals including hyenas, hares, bat-eared foxes, bush babies, and genet cats.

2000 Hours: Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
