Papaya Lake Lodge Kibale Forest National Park Uganda is a modern, stylish, and unique Luxury Lodge located on the rim of the beautiful Lyantonde crater lake in western Uganda,  close to Kibale Forest National Park, overlooking the hilly landscape, the lakes, and the Rwenzori Mountains. The crater lakes and the majestic Rwenzori Mountains are in the backdrop.

The Great Crater Lakes area boasts over 40 extinct volcanic craters, forming a chain of lakes, each unique in shape, size, and color, and each boasting its own distinct ecosystem. Two of these breathtaking features are right on our doorstep.

To the west, the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains tower above the area, breathing life into the valleys and rifts, resplendent with countless vanilla, banana, coffee, and tea plantations.

The Lodge is only 350 km west of Uganda’s capital, Kampala, in one of the country’s most scenic regions. Papaya Lake is accessible via light-aircraft flight or road transfer from Entebbe International Airport.

Papaya Lake Lodge Kibale Forest National Park Uganda offers 9 spacious and bright cottages. Artisanal yet discreetly elegant and unique interiors and crafts were designed using local, hand-made materials. All the cottages are situated on the extinct volcano crater’s slope and have breathtaking views of Lyantonde Lake. Each cottage offers complete privacy, hidden from view by a natural screen of green treetops. 

The lodge’s chefs pride themselves on their ability to satisfy even the most demanding gourmand. Their cooking is a fusion of cuisines from all parts of the world, prepared using fresh ingredients. A Papaya Lake specialty is, without a doubt, the homemade fruits and vegetables with spices and aromas from around the world.

The airy and bright common area of the restaurant is ingeniously planned with subtly arranged corners, each with its own unique climate and decor. The entire space is decorated with fine pieces of local art and crafts. During the day you can enjoy reading on a snug sofa or a terrace sunbed laid out just in front of the restaurant, with a panoramic view of the lake.
