Pelican House Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Pelican House is a thatched upcountry self-catering cottage situated in the east of the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Laikipia Kenya, 17 km from Nanyuki Airstrip. The house is located 215 km from Nairobi and driving time takes about 4 hours.

Scheduled flight from Nairobi land at the Nanyuki airstrip, which is a 45-minute drive away from the conservancy. It is also possible to charter a flight from any other park to Ol Pejeta’s airstrip (currently only open to charter flights).

Ol Pejeta is a renowned conservancy from the pioneering conservation projects that have made it famous to spectacular sightings of black and white rhinos, the Big 5, and the world’s last two remaining northern white rhinos.

Pelican House Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Pelican House Ol Pejeta Conservancy overlooks the serene Pelican Dam. This cozy all-inclusive or self-catering cottage sleeps eight but can sleep 12 on request. It is a perfect place to enjoy downtime with friends and family.

The house sleeps eight (8) people in the main building with a double suite in the garden separate from the main house with its own bathroom. There are two large en-suite double rooms and a third double bedroom with a separate bathroom. 

The house is booked on a self-catering basis and has an open plan living and dining room with a huge fireplace and a separate equipped kitchen. Guests have the option of preparing their own meals or having the staff cook for them.

The dining room has a Cedar dining table with ten seats and writing tables under the windows facing Mount Kenya. The house staff includes housekeeping, someone to assist with cooking, a groundskeeper, and a night watchman.

The house has well-manicured grounds and colorful gardens, surrounded by natural bush. A vegetable garden growing fresh ingredients sits next to the house. Electricity comes from a quiet generator.

Pelican House Ol Pejeta Conservancy activities include Maasai village visits, day game drives, visit Ol Pejeta Visitor Education Centre, night game drives, and sundowners. Guests can enjoy other activities outside the conservancy like golfing, fishing, mountain biking, and hike and camping in the nearby Mount Kenya and Aberdare National Parks.

* Boiled and filtered drinking water will be provided
* Check-in time is 1300 hours on the date of arrival
* Check-out time is 1000 hours on the date of departure
* Children as per our policy are between 3 – 12 years
* Bedding and towels are freshly laundered and provided at no extra charge
* A beautiful, thatched self-catering or all-inclusive cottage overlooking the serene Pelican dam
* Telephone reception is limited at Pelican House but there is free Wi-Fi available whenever the generator is on
* East African Citizens and Residents pay 6,000 Kenya Shillings for the catered option per person (no child rate) for the catered option

* Please note that night game drives are only permitted in the company of accredited Ol Pejeta staff. Private vehicles are not permitted on night game drives whilst unaccompanied
* Caretakers live on-site and are there to cater to your daily needs. Staff members include housekeeping, kitchen assistant, groundskeeper, and a night watchman. Members of staff work eight hours a day, with reasonable break times

Pelican House Ol Pejeta Conservancy Accommodation Rates Excludes:

* Mosquito repellents and insect spray
* All food and drink for the self-catering option

* Ol Pejeta Conservancy entrance fees and optional Conservation Activities
* Washing up liquid, washing powder/ fabric conditioner, bleach, and toiletries for personal use
* Staff gratuities. Please be aware that if you request staff to work over their standard eight hours, we kindly request that you ensure that this overtime is acknowledged in your tip
* There is a housekeeper on hand to help with housework, and a cook available at an additional cost (3,500 Kenya Shillings per day) who will help with breakfast, lunch, and dinner
