Purple Tea Farm Tour at Gatura Greens Farm Muranga County: Gatura Greens is home to the first purple tea farm in Kenya and is now open to guests to experience an authentic tea farm tour including a tea tasting of over 10 different types of teas made at our cottage Factory. Types of tea include Green Tea, Purple Tea, Hibiscus Tea, and Black Tea.
Your day begins at 9:30 a.m. with a warm welcome of the farm’s finest tea and freshly baked scones still warm from the oven. As you sip and savor, your host will weave the enchanting tale of the farm’s history, setting the stage for the incredible journey ahead.
Next, you’ll stroll into the heart of the Purple Tea fields, where you’ll be guided through the art of tea picking. This isn’t just harvesting; it’s a peaceful, soul-soothing ritual that lets you connect deeply with the earth, surrounded by the beauty of endless tea plants.
But the magic doesn’t stop there. You’ll then roll up your sleeves and craft your signature tea blend. From roasting the delicate leaves to hand-rolling, drying, and finally packing it, every step is infused with care and tradition. The result? Purple Tea Farm Tour at Gatura Greens Farm Muranga County Itinerary
0930 Hours: Arrive in Gatura Greens, Gatanga
The experience begins with tea and fresh scones for guests while the host gives an informal history about the farm, followed by an introductory tea tasting of the most popular teas from our very own specialty cottage Tea Factory.
1000 Hours: Purple Tea Farm Tour
After learning about the farm and tasting the popular tea selection made at the Factory, guests head out to the purple tea farm. While at the farm, guests are taught how to pick tea and get to pick some of their very own. This tea will then be taken back to the farm where guests will be taught how to make their very own specialty orthodox tea (this includes learning to roast it, roll it by hand, dry it then pack it for themselves to take home).
1145 Hours: Tea tasting
Guests are then treated to an expansive tea tasting of all the delicious variants made at our cottage tea factory, including our luxurious tea line, the tips variant
1220 Hours: Waterfall Trek and Swimming
After guests make their very own hand-picked and rolled purple tea, they head off to the waterfall trek, through a beautiful bamboo forest, finishing off with a refreshing dip at the waterfall by the farm.
1300 Hours: Lunch
Guests then return to the farmhouse in time for a delicious farm-fresh 3-course lunch served with a refreshing hibiscus ice tea.
1500 Hours: Departure
Guests can leave at their leisure when ready.
