Roho ya Selous Luxury Camp

Roho ya Selous Luxury Camp is a small peninsula overlooking Lake Nzerakera, in the very heart of the magnificent Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve), the largest National Park in Africa and home to one of the biggest populations of wild dogs on the continent. 

It is a wildlife hotspot, with giraffes and elephants regularly sauntering through the camp during the day and the sounds of nearby hippos and lions punctuating the night. With its network of lakes and rivers, this area is known for its water-based activities. 

The camp is a 15–20 minute drive from Selous Mbuyu Airstrip and 45-60 minutes to Selous Siwandu airstrip. Flying time takes 45 minutes from Dar es Salaam and 80 minutes from Ruaha. International flight to Dar es Salaam via Nairobi takes about 11 hours. There are numerous daily flights to Mbuyu airstrip from Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Ruaha, Mafia, Pemba, and northern Tanzania.

Roho ya Selous Luxury Camp comprises 8 spacious tents including a family tent, all of which are hidden away within the trees to induce maximum privacy. The luxurious tents are stylishly furnished while maintaining traditional safari charm.

Each tent has been designed with comfort and ease with the added luxury of ‘evening breeze’, a cooling system surrounding the bed to keep temperatures cool through the hotter months. The tents are all ensuite and have the added luxury of both an indoor and outdoor shower.

A shady veranda offers an inviting spot to relax in between activities and watch the wildlife pass through the camp. During the day, cool off in the pool or spot wildlife making its way to the water from an armchair in our shaded dining tent or lounge area.

The Selous offers excitement and adventure with distinct habitats such as swamps, beautiful lakes, open plains, and rivers waiting to be discovered with expert guides. While the reserve is home to a diverse spread of wildlife such as buffalo, lions, hippos &large wild dogs. The reserve also has excellent birdlife with over 400 different species recorded in the area.

The Camp activities include boating, Bush Walks & Walking Safaris, Fishing, Game Drives, Camping, Photographic safaris, etc.
