Roses Last Chance Guest House Budadiri Mt Elgon Uganda offers very affordable accommodation located at the western entrance to Mount Elgon National Park (Uganda), along Masaba Road, in Budadiri Mbale directly opposite the park’s Visitors Centre. The guesthouse is situated about 30 km from Mbale town (on a rural rough road) and is the closest accommodation to the Sasa Trail –  the best route to reach Wagagai Peak – the highest peak on Mount Elgon. Roses Last Chance guesthouse & campsite sits at an altitude of 1,250 meters (4100 feet) and offers stunning views of the peaks of Mount Elgon.

Roses Last Chance guesthouse & campsite accommodation includes 7 single and double bedrooms and dormitory accommodation for up to 20 guests. The campsite has enough space for budget campers with tents and is furnished with showers and flush toilets. (Warm baths are available on request) Other facilities include an on-site restaurant, meals – both African and European cuisine, a fully stocked bar, a craft shop, and local traditional dancers. There is also a wide range of camping gear for hire.

Roses Last Chance guesthouse & campsite activities include nature walks to view Sipi waterfalls on ridges and exploring mountainside caves, trips with four-wheel-drive vehicles as well as motorcycles, and day trips to communities in the area. You can also learn to prepare local dishes such as bamboo with mushroom sauce, enjoy local traditional dances, and hike Mount Elgon.

Rose’s Last Chance Guest house is simply a bed & breakfast establishment in Budadiri located right across the street from the Uganda Wildlife Authority office where you’ll make payments and arrangements for climbing Mt Elgon using the Sasa River trail.

The guest house and campsite are in the village of Budadiri on the Mbale/ Sironko side of the mountain. Rosie’s Last Chance is a recommended Guesthouse to stay in the night before the start of your climb.

The guest house is located about 235 km from the capital Kampala which is about a 3-4 hour drive. There is a tarmac road that runs from Kampala through Jinja to Mbale town. A number of murram roads lead off to the various trail routes. The trailhead at Budadiri is only 20km from Mbale and is accessible by public transport.

The rooms and dormitories are rather basic but the atmosphere is very pleasant and the prices are very pocket friendly. Rent camping equipment tents, floor mats, sleeping bags, and hiking equipment raincoats and boots are readily available at the guest house.
