Ruaha River Lodge Ruaha Tanzania is a 3-star lodge set along the Great Ruaha River, in Ruaha National Park.  The Lodge has located about 30 minutes game drive away from the Msembe airstrip. 

The Great Ruaha River forms the spine of this vast and varied park. Most of our game drives spend at least some of their time following the river, before breaking off and exploring the bushland and kopjes beyond.

Ruaha River Lodge Ruaha Tanzania is the only ‘lodge’ in Ruaha, consisting of 24 stone chalets stretching along the river bank. Each chalet has stunning views from a large veranda out the front, while the huge interiors feature a sitting area, writing desk, and either twin or double beds. At the rear of each chalet is a large bathroom decorated with found timber, a shower, and double basins.

All rooms have an en suite bathroom featuring a shower, toilet, and washbasin with solar-heated hot water. The rooms are protected with mosquito gauze on the windows, and a generator provides electricity for lights and battery charging until 11 pm each night.

The first dining area is a long banda by the side of the river. Breakfast is the perfect time to watch the game and meander down for a drink, while evenings can be spent around the fire pit, looking down the river, or curled up in one of the sofas with a drink and a book.

The second area is imperiously positioned atop the largest kopje in the area, situated on a bend, and enjoys commanding views down two sections of the river. This is surely the best sundowner spot in Ruaha.

Solar Water Heaters have been installed for each room which use the natural energy of the sun to provide you with hot running water. Water temperature might fluctuate, but being near the equator with intense solar energy is not common.

One of the marvels of Ruaha River Lodge is the wildlife that roams around camp, meaning your safari does not end after a game drive. For safety, Maasai guides take our guests on short walking safaris between their rooms and other camp areas.

Ruaha National Park has a huge diversity of species boasting both the Greater and Lesser Kudu; the striped and spotted hyena as well as Roan and Sable antelope. Other animals available include lions, giraffes, leopards,  Hunting Dogs,  cheetah, jackals, bat-eared Foxes, genet, and civets. Many elephant herds are seen close to the lodge and throughout the Park.

Activities available in Ruaha River Lodge include; walking safaris accompanied by an armed ranger, game drives, and fly-camping in dome tents with a separate toilet and bucket shower.
