Rubondo Island Camp Lake Victoria Tanzania

Rubondo Island Camp is a luxury safari camp situated on the secluded Rubondo Island, in the southwest corner of Lake Victoria. The only Accommodation facility on the pristine island of Rubondo Lake Victoria.

Rubondo Island can be reached by park boat from two different locations. One option is the boat from Kasenda, a small village near Muganza in Chato District. The other option is the boat from Nkome in Geita District. By airplane, Rubondo Airstrip can be reached with Auric Air or Coastal Aviation.

Rubondo Island Camp has just eight luxury chalets – six double rooms, a family room, and a Honeymoon Suite. Each has en suite facilities with a walk-in hot & cold shower, flush toilet, and twin basins.

All rooms all built by hand using traditional skills and local materials – that blend seamlessly into the verdant landscape. They are attractively decorated with solid stone features, high-quality furnishings, and pure cotton linen and there is a veranda for guests to relax and observe the surrounding natural environment.

All rooms have a hairdryer and tea/coffee facilities. The spacious Family Room has a day bed and hammock on the verandah and is close to the main area and the camp’s swimming pool.

The large and luxurious Honeymoon Suite is perfectly set on the edge of the forest, furthest from the main area to ensure peace and privacy, and it has sensational views of Lake Victoria. It features a King Size bed and an indoor and outdoor hot shower.

Rubondo Island Camp’s public areas include a large, open-plan lounge and bar (with local and imported beer, wines, and spirits) and a dining area. Dining can be communal, sometimes on the beach, but private tables can be arranged. Food is of the highest standards with a good range of international cuisine.

Rubondo Island boasts a number of indigenous species such as hippo, bushbuck, vervet, sitatunga, crocodiles, elephants, chimpanzees, giraffes, black and white colobus monkeys, suni and grey parrots, buffalos, bushpig, hyrax, warthog, and large spotted genet cat.

Activities available at Rubondo Island include; Game Drives, Bird watching, Fly camping, Cultural visits, Swimming Pool, Boating and Canoeing safari, Nature walks, Catch-and-release fishing, Chimp trekking, etc
