Sarara Treehouses Mathews Range

Sarara Treehouses is an outstanding eco-luxury lodge at the foot of Uarges mountain within the Namyunak Wildlife Conservancy in Mathews Range. The  Treehouses is the sister property of Sarara’s main camp.

The easiest way to reach Sarara Treehouses is on a scheduled flight from Nairobi’s domestic Wilson Airport to Nanyuki, Lewa Downs or Kalama Samburu followed by a road transfer or short charter flight to Sarara. Sarara is approximately 263 km from Nairobi and 117 km from Nanyuki Town.

The Treehouses are located in Sarara’s forested position which can be accessed via a raised path from the main Sarara camp. This journey can be undertaken by foot, car, or on a bush pony – depending on guests’ preferences. It takes approximately 2 hours to walk either on foot or on a bush pony with camels taking your luggage.

Sarara Treehouses have eight tents with an en-suite toilet and basin with an adjacent shower enclosed within Sarara ‘style’ walls but open to the skies. Two tents are close together and work well for families with younger children (5 and over).

The eight tree tents are very similar, they all have a spacious bedroom, dominated by a king-sized double bed, and each has an en-suite bathroom alongside an outside shower. The camp’s Centerpiece is undoubtedly its impressive swimming pool, which is surrounded by cushioned sun loungers.

Mathews Range is home to several thousand elephants, in addition to a variety of other species including leopard, giraffe, buffalo, elephant, leopard and bushbuck, and De Brazza Monkeys. Wild dog, and kudu.

Sarara Treehouses activities include game walks, camel treks and bush walks, game drives, cultural visits, bush meals, sundowners, bird watching, fly camping, mountain hikes, Moonlit bush dinners, scenic flights, and bush ponies (horse riding).

A trip to the ten-meter-deep Sarara Singing Well, home to a traditional Samburu water gathering ritual, the lodge’s roaring campfire provides a fine backdrop for sharing stories and savoring a cold drink after a long day of exploring the region.
