Simba Cottages Amboseli

Simba Banda Amboseli is a self-catering Banda or chalet located in the heart of the Amboseli National Park, 230 km from Nairobi (approximately a 3-hour drive) close to the Meshanani gate and Tanzanian border with magnificent views of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro.

The cottage lies close to the Tanzanian border with magnificent views of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro.  Amboseli National Parks is one of Kenya’s most popular parks. The name “Amboseli” comes from a Maasai word meaning “salty dust”, and it is one of the best places in Africa to view large herds of elephants up close.

Simba Banda will take you back in time! intermittently spaced by indigenous trees. The cottages replicate ancient African architecture huts with grass thatching and minimal modern furnishing.

 The Banda features a bedroom, a bathroom, a lounge area, and a kitchen. The bedroom has twin single beds which accommodate 2 guests, and the bathroom features a shower and flushes toilet.

There is a small lounge area with cozy chairs. The well-equipped kitchen features a gas stove, fridge, cutlery, crockery, glasses, and dining table. Guests are welcome to prepare their own meals. A caretaker is available. The Banda is generator-powered and is provided from 6 pm to 10 pm. 

Nature lovers can explore five different habitats here ranging from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli, wetlands with Sulphur springs, the savannah, and woodlands.  They can also visit the local Maasai community who live around the park and experience their authentic culture.

The park offers spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Meru, and large elephant herds are often viewed in an unusual swamp habitat. More than 425 species of birds have been recorded, and plenty of wildlife species can be spotted including lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant, zebra, hippo, black rhino, Maasai giraffe, oryx, wildebeest, gerenuk, impala, and Grant’s gazelle.
