Sinya Conservancy is located in the Amboseli ecosystem in Northern Tanzania, about 140 km or a 2 ½-hour drive from Arusha town and 93 km from the Namanga Border. This Masai conservancy, covering 600 km2, offers incomparable scenery, with magnificent views of Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru, Ol Doinyo Longido, and Ol Doinyo Orok on a clear day.

This Full-Day Sinya Wildlife Conservancy Safari in the west of Kilimanjaro starts in Arusha, where you are collected from your accommodation at 0600 hours. Leaving Arusha, we make our way straight to the private conservancy of Sinya.

The 600 sq km Sinya Conservancy lies west of Mt. Kilimanjaro, adjacent to Amboseli in Kenya, some 130 km from Arusha. A 3-hour drive brings us to the Engasurai gate of the Sinya Wildlife Conservancy. This Masai conservancy is the ancestral home of some 2,000 Masai who live in traditional ‘bomas’ widely scattered throughout this seldom visited the area.

On the borders of Kenya’s world-famous Amboseli National Park, Sinya offers magnificent views of Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru, Ol Doinyo Longido, and Ol Doinyo Orok. Arriving at Sinya Conservancy, we check in and take a brief comfort break before embarking on our exciting game drive in the untamed bush. Entering the park, we proceed while scanning for wildlife, including birds and other creatures.

Sinya Conservancy is one of the few areas in Africa where huge Elephant Bulls, more than 50 years old, carrying tusks of considerable size, are regularly seen along with an array of other large mammals, including zebra, wildebeest, Thomson’s, and Grant’s gazelle, Maasai giraffe, eland, and singular species like lesser kudu and oryx.

The gerenuk (giraffe-gazelle) and the striped hyena have their southern distribution limits in Sinya. Predators like lions, cheetahs, leopards, and spotted hyenas, although usually shy and elusive, are also present in Sinya. Sinya is also a paradise for birdwatchers.

During the game drive, we pause to watch any interesting animal or bird sightings and take photographs. We also stop to stretch our legs and enjoy a fresh cup of coffee or tea at the picnic area inside Sinya. After our coffee break, we proceed north, passing several watering holes where animals often congregate to drink and bathe.

Upon reaching the picnic site, we have lunch and relax in the shade. Then we make our way back through the conservancy, watching for wildlife action along the way. We will exit the park later this afternoon and return to your accommodation in Arusha, bringing your action-packed day safari to a close.

Note: Every Tuesday is Market Day, when local tribes gather. You can also visit a local Maasai boma (village). This safari is conducted in a 4×4 safari Land Cruiser, a modified closed safari vehicle for African safaris. They seat 7 passengers and feature individually operable windows.
