Sirimon Cottage Mount Kenya is a self-catering banda located on the alpine pastures on the edge of a forested ravine, at the foot of Mount Kenya with an impressive landscape. The cottage is adjacent to the Sirimon Gate, 34 km from Nanyuki and about 240 km North-East of Nairobi. The closest airstrip is Nanyuki airstrip.
Direction: from the town of Nanyuki travel 25km north on the Nanyuki – Meru road, Sirimon Gate is signposted to your right. The bandas are at Sirimon Gate 9km off the Nanyuki-Meru highway. The Sirimon gate of Mount Kenya is one of the many entry points into Mount Kenya national park, as well as the start of the Sirimon trekking route to its summit.
The stone cottage houses 2 semi-detached bandas and can accommodate only 4 guests. Each banda has a sitting room with a log fire leading into an open plan dining room, verandah, a well-equipped kitchen, and 2 bedrooms with either a double bed or twin beds.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas stove, kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery, and glasses. Here guests can cook for themselves or have the caretaker prepare meals for them. Guests can enjoy their meals in the dining area, around the log fire, or in the fresh air of the veranda.
The kerosene lamps, blankets, pillows, bed linen, towels, soap, and toilet tissue, and also mosquito nets are provided in each banda to make the guests stay more comfortably.
