Soi Safari Lodge Lake Baringo is located on the Western shores of Lake Baringo in the Rift Valley in Kenya, where it commands spectacular views of Lake Baringo.

The lodge is about  272 km from Nairobi city. There are 74 standard rooms, 2 interconnecting rooms, 6 deluxe rooms and 4 accessible rooms (for disabled guests).

Each en-suite guestroom has air conditioning and private balcony with panoramic lake and mountain views.

The onsite restaurant serves variety of local and international dishes, which can be enjoyed in the tastefully decorated dining room or in the outdoors.

The well stocked bar overlooks the lake and offers a wide selection of refreshing alcoholic and soft drinks.

Soi Safari Lodge Lake Baringo has 2 modern and fully equipped conference halls and an  executive board room right at the shores of Lake Baringo.

The facilities can host 10- 200 guests and are ideal for seminars and conferences.

There is an Olympic size swimming pool which has sun loungers on the terrace and has spectacular view of Lake Baringo.

The  lodge has a massage parlor where guests enjoy mind and body rejuvenating services.

Activities in the Soi Safari Lodge Lake Baringo include boat rides, nature walks, village visits and visit to the Reptile Park.

Guests can also enjoy watching the African Fish Eagle feed on fish in the lake.

Soi Safari Lodge has many attractions to occupy your day while at the Lodge, including field excursions and boat rides to the geysers and hot springs. The local tour guides educate you about the beautiful landscape. The boat rides also take you to the seven islands on the lake, which are inhabited by the Njemps.

It is said they are descendants of the Masai and Samburu and are the 43rd tribe in Kenya. However, unlike the Masai, the Njemps are fishermen. Visits to the Bamalok and Kokwa islands helps guests learn about their traditions and way of life. Lake Baringo has more than 300 hippos and the shores are countless crocodiles.

The lake also boasts fish eagles that the local guides feed. It always a spectacle watching them feed. The speed and precision with which they picked fish is breathtaking.

Apart from the fish eagles, the region boasts 450 species of birds. Unlike most lakes in the Rift Valley, Lake Baringo has brown water due to siltation and underground outlets. The water has fluoride and most residents have brown teeth as a result.

Cattle Crossing
It is fascinating to see the island’s cattle swim for about three hours across the lake to the cattle market in Marigat. When a cow refuses to swim, its calf would be thrown into the shallow end of the lake and the rest would quickly follow.

The owner would then remove the calf while the rest swam to the mainland. This spectacle takes place twice a month and only during the market days. Other captivating activities on the lake include fishing, rowing, water skiing and visits to Devil’s Island by boat and the reptile park.

Romantic getaway
The Lodge’s conducive and attractive compound is partially patched with rocks to portray its originality. To the East of the lake is the Laikipia escarpment while to the west rises the dramatic Tugen hills.

If you are not an outdoor person, the hotel offers entertainment in the form of traditional dancers and disco music for the young at heart.

The lodge is ideal for couples on a romantic getaway, business retreats and conferences (the halls are large enough to sit 1,000 people). The road to the lodge is also smooth and safe.

Standard Boat Trip for 1 Hour/ 2 Hours or 3 Hours
One, Two or Three hours depending on the client’s interest. However two-hour ride is standard: this enhances sight of various birds, hippos, crocodiles, lizards and fish eagle feeding on the islands. Price: 50 US Dollars Per Hour
