Sungura Safari Camp Amboseli

Sungura Safari Camp Amboseli is a mid-range property that offers a modest range of safari activities right at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. The camp is 2 km from Amboseli National Park’s main gate (Kimana Gate) and 20 km from the Emali-Loitoktok tarmac road. The lodge is 240 km from Nairobi and 16 km from Amboseli airstrip. Sungura camp is just a 15-minute drive from the Kenya Wildlife Service main gate and easily accessible from both AA Lodge and Sentrim Amboseli.

Getting there: You can either drive by road or fly. Driving takes about  4.5 hours via the Nairobi- Arusha road – Meshanani gate or the Nairobi – Mombasa road. The flying time from Nairobi is 45-minutes landing at the Amboseli airstrip.

The lodge has an elevation of  1130m/ 3707 feet above sea level and offers stunning views of Mt Kilimanjaro. Sungura Safari Camp Amboseli weather is warm & temperate. Nightly lows of down to 13°C and daily highs of up to 27°C. The camp offers a range of different accommodations to suit every traveler. These include:

All rooms are well decorated and furnished with en-suite facilities from flushing toilets,  mosquito nets, hot/cold separated running showers, free toiletries, white pillows, dressing mirrors, complimentary bottled water, slippers, and other facilities. Rooms have verandas, sitting areas, and terraces with a cozy atmosphere, you relax while overlooking the beautiful view of Mount Kilimanjaro, and animals visiting the camp and surrounding wilderness.  The camp offers single beds for individuals, double beds/ twins for sharing as well as family/ group rooms.  The camp has fireplaces where guests relax and share stories about the safari, it also provides warmth to guests during chill weather.

Other amenities include a kitchen, a front Office, and a restaurant/dining area in the main building that serves delicious meals both local and international meals. Meals offered include; buffet Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There is a bar with refreshing drinks and a variety of beverages for both internationals and locals where you can relax sipping any drink of your choice and overlooking the beautiful Mount Kilimanjaro.

Activities in the Sungura Safari Camp Amboseli include sundowners, bush dinners, day game drives, nature walks, day and night game drives, and visits to Maasai Manyattas.
