Tangulia Mara Camp

Tangulia Mara camp is a rustic and cozy tented bush camp perched on a leafy hill overlooking the Olotulo-Murt salt lick, by the Mara River. It is located on private land on the western boundary of the Mara Reserve.  The camp is near the Musiara Marsh and 16 km away from the Hippo pool.

The camp can be reached either by road or by air. The distance from Nairobi to Masai Mara is approximately 250 km. It takes around 5-6 hours by road while flying time takes about 45 minutes. Scheduled flights land at Musiara Airstrip which is a few minutes drive from the camp.

The camp is ideally located allowing easy access to game drive around the Musiara Marsh, the short grass plains, and Rhino Ridge, in the Reserve; or across the Mara River bridge into the Mara Triangle west of the river.

Tangulia Mara Camp has 7 en-suite tents and a family tent of 2 en-suite bedrooms with a shared sitting area.  Each tent features a double and a single bed, chairs and a wooden table, a drying rack for clothing, and a permanent en-suite bathroom with a shower, basin, and flush toilet. Both hot and cold water is piped into the tents from a storage tank, allowing for running showers.

The mess includes a living room and dining area and is a thatched and open-fronted building, overlooking the Olotulo Murt Salt Lick. Meals have both the African and international touch and guests can also enjoy their meals outdoors.

There is a large wooden dining table where communal dinners are served; a stone bar that’s built into one of the corners; and a few comfortable sofas that are covered by red Maasai Kikois.

The name Tangulia means “to lead” and is at the core of the camp’s existence. With over twenty-five years of guiding visitors to the Mara, the owners Jackson Looseyia and Dominic Nchoe are more than qualified to give guests a truly authentic insight into the Maasai culture, customs, beliefs, and knowledge of the fauna and flora here.

Tangulia Mara camp activities include; day game drives, guided nature walks, cultural and village visits, bush breakfasts, night game drives, bird watching, Maasai cultural visits, picnic lunches, and sundowners.

* It is important to note that on the day of departure a free 2Hrs transit ticket is issued for guests departing from Musiara airstrip before 11:00AM. For any departures after 11:00AM, an extra days Reserve fees are payable. For guests wishing to spend longer than 2Hrs in the Reserve on the morning of departure, a full days Reserve fees are payable

Masai Mara Park Fees

* 100 US Dollars per adult, per night from 1st January to 30th June
* 200 US Dollars per adult, per night from 1st July to 31st December
* 50 US Dollars per child, per night all year (aged 3 to 17 years inclusive)
