Tawi Lodge Amboseli National Park is a boutique eco-lodge situated in the game-rich Tawi-Kilotome Conservancy (6,000 Acres)  just five minutes from Kimana Gate, the Eastern entrance to Amboseli National Park, at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. Tawi Lodge Amboseli is 4 hours by road from Nairobi and 35 minutes by air. Scheduled flights land at Amboseli airstrip which is 45 minute drive to the lodge and private charter at Tawi airstrip.

Tawi Lodge Amboseli National Park stands in Amboseli National Park and lies 250 km south (four hours drive, one hour flight time) of Nairobi and close to the Tanzanian border (Namanga 85 km) and Mount Kilimanjaro. Offering just 12 eco-friendly cottages, the lodge enjoys magnificent views of Mount Kilimanjaro. It offers a central dining room and bar, both of which overlook the waterhole, where large herds of elephants come to drink. There is also a swimming pool and massage facility.

Tawi Lodge Amboseli is located at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, the lodge offers stunning views of Africa’s highest mountain and the legendary ‘Snows of Kilimanjaro’. Once part of the Great Southern Game Reserve, Amboseli is one of Kenya’s earliest game sanctuaries; it is also one of her most popular attracting over 200,000 tourists per year.

Tawi Lodge Amboseli National Park offers 12 cottages, each with a wooden deck overlooking Mount Kilimanjaro, a log fire, a minibar, a dedicated butler, solar power, and either a double or twin bedroom with an ensuite bathroom (bath, shower, WC). Guest services include mobile phone connections and staff will be glad to point out optimum reception points. The lodge offers a central dining and bar area overlooking the water hole and wetlands.

A wide range of buffet meals are served and the lodge also offers nightly cocktails around the campfire as well as bush breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. Meals are traditionally served buffet style and will include a broad selection of Kenya, international, and local choices. Vegetarian options are always provided and children’s mealtimes and menus can usually be arranged with prior notice. The lodge welcomes children.

What to see and do at Tawi Lodge Amboseli National Park: Amboseli National Park is world-famous for its populations of wildlife, particularly large mammals. The swamps are a centre of such wildlife activity as; elephants, hippos, buffaloes, and abundant water birds. The surrounding flat grasslands are home to grazing antelopes. Spotted hyenas are plentiful, as are jackals, warthogs, olive baboons, and vervet monkeys.

No longer present in their original numbers, lions can still be found in Amboseli National Park though the famous black-maned lions have long since disappeared, as have the black rhinos that were once so plentiful. Lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant, zebra, hippo, spotted and striped hyena, giraffe, oryx, wildebeest, gerenuk, impala, and Grant’s gazelle. Birds: 425 recorded species.

Tawi Lodge Amboseli consists of 13 luxury cottages with 4 post beds and comfortable mattresses, a private wooden deck, a chimney, showers, and Victorian baths.  All cottages have en suite bathrooms fitted with both a bath and shower and with a fabulous view of the highest mountain in Africa Mount Kilimanjaro.

Each cottage has its own wooden-deck veranda, a fireplace, and a fabulous view of the highest mountain in Africa, even from the comfort of your bed or your bathtub. Tawi Lodge 4 different lounges with deep couches, 2 bars to have a drink, read, or relax by the fireplace, or the lodge water hole known to attract all the wildlife of the area. 

Lighting and water systems are solar-powered. A charging facility for cell phones and camera batteries is available. Butler service is provided for maximum privacy and comfort.
