The 100 Year Old House Nanyuki

The 100-Year-Old House Nanyuki is a charming old rental holiday home in Kenya located 10 km out of Nanyuki town, and right opposite the Nanyuki airstrip with magnificent views of Mt Kenya. This house provides all the joys of the great outdoors whilst still providing home comforts.  The house offers 3 bedrooms, a kitchen, a veranda, and a sitting area with a fireplace. A private garden surrounds the house. The house is equipped with a large fridge freezer, toaster, kettle, gas burner/oven, and indoor and outdoor seating area. A cleaner can visit each day to do the washing up and clean the house if desired at no extra charge. The house sleeps 8 guests.

A stay here offers a perfect base from which to explore the Mount Kenya region or, for those wishing to explore further afield, a stop-off en route to Laikipia and Northern Kenya. The 100-Year-Old House is a charming old house located on the Nanyuki – Nairobi highway, 10 km out of Nanyuki town, opposite the Nanyuki airstrip with magnificent views of Mt Kenya.

The House was originally built in 1912 in Hurlingham in Nairobi and was going to be demolished to make way for a skyscraper, so in December 2018, we decided to rescue this house and move it piece by piece here to Nanyuki, preserving a little of Kenya’s History and a great new asset to One Stop.

It took us many months to rebuild but it’s finally complete, decorated stylishly, and with beautiful views of Mt Kenya and the Aberdare mountains. It has 3 bedrooms, one room is a double en suite, and the other 2 rooms share a bathroom and can be made up as singles or doubles if requested in advance.

The house is equipped with a large fridge freezer, toaster, kettle, gas burner/oven, and indoor and outdoor seating area. A cleaner can visit each day to do the washing up and clean the house if desired at no extra charge.

Bathrooms with solar hot water systems together with a booster to ensure piping hot water on even the cloudiest days. The house can accommodate 1 – 8 Persons & (2 camp cots available for extra Guests). Wi-fi is available in the House and at Frontiers Coffee Bar. The house is on a self-catering basis and guests can bring their own meals.

Please be respectful of your neighbors in the other huts and keep noise to an absolute minimum. Unless you have booked all the huts exclusively or the facility has no other bookings at the time, music will not be allowed to be played on the premises as this will compromise the experience for other guests.

* Hot Water: All accommodation has solar hot water. The booster can be put on on rainy days 30 minutes before showering but please ensure you turn it off again to conserve power
* Although we provide ample security, we cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to property in the huts. Please be careful with your keys, remember to lock up after you and hand them in, or leave them in the door when you check out.
