Travelers Rest Hotel Kisoro Uganda is a 3-star hotel situated just outside Kisoro, in the extreme southwestern corner of Uganda on the borders with the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, offering a perfect base for gorilla trekking in the area.
The hotel is located on Cyanika Road, on the corner of the road to Congo and the road to Rwanda. The area is of astonishing beauty, and the views of the Virunga volcanoes dominate the landscape.
Built-in 1955 by Walter Baumgartel, the so-called father of gorilla tourism, it quickly became a meeting place for people interested in mountain gorillas. It was entirely renovated in 1999, but the charm of the somewhat colonial style still remains today.
Travelers Rest Hotel Kisoro Uganda consists of 12 en-suite rooms, tastefully decorated with a unique selection of Congo art. The spacious rooms overlook a well-groomed courtyard and have the magical Virunga volcanoes as a backdrop.
The lounge with its big fireplace becomes the perfect spot in the evening, to wind down from a day filled with experiences. However, for those who prefer a colder spot, you can enjoy your aperitif in the oasis of the garden from where you can enjoy the views of the magical Virunga volcanoes.
Dinners are served in the Congolese art-decorated restaurant and consist of a delicious 4-course set menu with lots of produce from this fertile region.
