Virunga Lodge Rwanda is a luxury accommodation facility perched high on a ridge overlooking the Virunga Volcanoes and the Musanze valley to the west and Lake Bulera and Ruhondo to the east. 

Volcanoes Virunga Lodge is located in north western Rwanda, around a 45-minute drive from the park headquarters where you start your gorilla trekking adventures. The lodge has a beautiful hillside position overlooking the twin lakes, Burera and Ruhondo.

It is an 8-hour 30-minute international flight to Nairobi followed by a 2-hour international flight to the capital city of Rwanda, Kigali. From Kigali, it’s 20 minutes by helicopter or a 3-hour drive.

The iconic property has defined Rwandese Afro-chic since the lodge was built by Praveen Moman in 2004. The understated, timeless, hand-made style has been further refined to meet the needs of today’s luxury travelers.

Virunga Lodge has 10 luxury bandas(6 doubles, 2 twins, 2 deluxe), all with a fireplace in the room and a terrace overlooking the volcanoes or the twin lakes. All rooms are complete with en-suite bathrooms with a flushing toilet, double vanity, and shower with hot & cold running water.

The two deluxe bandas – named after the lakes Ibirunga and Ibiyaga – have their own private sitting room and more refined interiors, and a large terrace overlooking the majestic Virunga volcanoes or the twin lakes.
