Vuma Hills Tented Camp Mikumi Tanzania is a luxury camp situated in the heart of Mikumi National Park. Nestled in the forests of the Vuma Mountains that overlook the Mkata Plains of the Mikumi below.

The golden grasslands of north-western Mikumi provide the stage for a wonderful concentration of mammals, birds, and reptiles, while the impenetrable forests and mountains to the south-east border the vast Nyerere National Park.

Mikumi National Park is the closest National Park to Dar es Salaam and is nestled between the Uluguru Mountains to the northeast, the Rubeho mountains, Udzungwa mountains, and Rift Valley escarpment to the southwest.

Stanley Kopje Camp is accessible by both road and air.  There are daily scheduled flights from Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar to Mikumi airstrip. Chartered flights can also be arranged.

Vuma Hills Tented Camp Mikumi Tanzania consist 16 tents comfortably furnished, so sleeping under canvas at Vuma is a far cry from the discomfort usually associated with camps. Complete with shaded wooden veranda at the front and en suite bathroom facilities at the back there is not much more to be asked for. 

The cozy bar area centers around a roaring log fire, opening onto a large decking area from where you can take in the setting sun over the Mkata plains below. Under the same thatch, the dining area enjoys widespread views through the lush trees and overlooking the swimming pool.

The camp’s focus is to provide guests with an ‘off the beaten track’, immersive wildlife experience. The remoteness of the camp is a big part of achieving this goal. some elements of everyday life in the African Bush will be different from what you are used to at home.

There are high concentrations of game, with large herds of Nyasa Blue Wildebeest, (not found in Ruaha National Park), buffalo, impala, zebra, and giraffe. Where there are large herds, there is always plenty of predators (lion, leopard) waiting for dinner. Over 400 species of birds are found in the park.

Activities from Vuma Hills Tented Camp include; game drives, walking safari, Birding, Udzungwa excursions, and swimming.
