The best time to visit Nungwi is early in the morning, when the fish market is lively and crowded. Depending on the fishing of the previous night, you might see tunas, kingfish, dorados, and a variety of other big fish.
In the morning, local fishermen and women head to the barrier reef to catch a number of different small sea creatures, squids, octopuses, puffer fish, and sometimes rays that you can buy at the fish market throughout the day.
