Zebra Plains Mara Camp

Zebra Plains Mara Camp is a luxury-tented safari camp located very close to the border with the Maasai Mara National Reserve below the Oldonyo Loip Ridge facing the open plains of the Reserve. The ridge, home to some of the big cats, is one of the most important wildlife habitats and migration corridors. Zebra Plains Camp is exactly 10 km from Talek gate, 25 a minute’s drive from Olkiombo airstrip, and about 4.5 hours drive from Nairobi (270 km north of Nairobi in Kenya and an hour’s flight from Wilson Airport).

The guest accommodation at Mara Zebra Plains Camp consists of luxury tented rooms and Family Villas which have been tastefully decorated and furnished with double beds and mosquito nets. The tents have en-suite bathrooms with flush toilets, washbasins, and hot showers. Each tent has its own veranda where guests can sit back and watch the bush, enjoying the amazing views from the verandahs. The closest entrance to Masai Mara is the Talek gate, only 10 km from the camp. Facilities include spa, bar and lounge areas, and an airy restaurant.

Zebra Plains Mara Camp activities include morning and afternoon game drives, night game drives, bird watching, seeing the Great Wildebeest Migration (July to October), guided nature walks, Horseback safaris, Hot Air balloon safaris, Sundowners and Bush meals, Masai village visits, visiting Masai Mara private conservancies, and visiting the Mara River to see crocodiles.

On safari in the Masai Mara, you can expect to see the Big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhino), plus the giraffe, cheetah, hippo, and zebra. Others include the Masai giraffe, aardvark, aardwolf, mongoose, bat-eared foxes, hartebeests, impalas, dik-diks, spotted hyenas, wildebeests, monkeys, warthogs, baboons, jackals, honey badgers, crocodiles, and gazelles.

Zebra Plains Mara Camp is a small and exclusive boutique tented camp set below the Oldonyo Loip Ridge facing the open plains of the Maasai Mara. Masai Mara Game Reserve is situated in South-Western Kenya and is the Northern continuation of the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania.

Masai Mara lies about 270 km from Nairobi and takes about 4 to 5 hours by Road and 45 Minutes by Air. The camp consists of Luxury Tented Rooms and Family Villas. The rooms can be converted into doubles, singles, or triples depending on the guest’s requests. Two of the luxury tented rooms are designed for honeymooners and those set to celebrate their special occasions.

There is one standard luxury tented family tent that has two connected rooms with each of the rooms having its own amenities, It is recommended for families with small children, 4 adults sharing two twins, or 2 Adults in single room occupancy. It is not recommended for two couples.

The camp also has two deluxe tented family Villas. These tents are very spacious and each of them has two rooms connected by a lounge and dining which still it can be converted into a room.

These villas are recommended for families with small children or teenagers,6 Adults either in 3 twins/2 triples, 2 couples who know each other, or even one family that has up to 8 members. It is not recommended for 3 Couples. Each of the 3 rooms (Lounge & Dining included) in each family Villa has its own amenities, own entrances, and own Verandahs.

All of our tents have both cold and hot running water for showers. They are as well furnished with washing basins, flushing toilets, luggage racks, reading tables, mosquito nets, and comfy safari chairs to experience the amazing views from the verandahs.

Zebra Plains Mara Camp has a very spacious main area that features the following amenities; Five comfy and relaxing Lounges of which one is a bar lounge that is connected to our well-stocked bar and one is a TV lounge, Well stocked bar that has a good selection of wines, spirits, whiskies, gins, local beers, and soft drinks

The camp caters to both local and international cuisines with Vegetarian, Nov-vegetarian, Halal, Gluten-free, and other guests’ requests being taken care of.  The dining areas feature both indoor and outdoor setups with several places to offer lovely setups for our guests.

After your long day of flying, driving to our camp, or out on safari, we invite you for one of our relaxing and rejuvenating treatments at our spa. Different types of massages, and facial, hand, and foot rituals are offered. All of our treatments depend on the availability of the therapists and to place your bookings get in touch with our front-of-house team.

Maasai Mara Park Fees
