Our 1-Night safari to The Ark Tree Lodge (via Aberdare Country Club) begins and ends in Nairobi. The tour departs between 0700 Hours and 0800 Hours, arriving at the Club for lunch by 1200 Hours, followed by a 1430 Hours transfer to The Ark for overnight floodlit game viewing.

The trip focuses on viewing wildlife from the tree lodge’s decks and returns to Nairobi around 1230 Hours the next day

Day 1: Nairobi to The Ark

0800 Hours – Departure: Pick-up from your residence or the airport in Nairobi for a scenic 2.5- to 3-hour drive through central Kenya’s tea and coffee plantations
1200 Hours – Arrival & Lunch: Arrive at the Aberdare Country Club for check-in and a buffet lunch
Note: You are required to pack a small overnight bag for The Ark; your main luggage is typically stored at the Country Club for the night

1430  Hours – Lodge Transfer: Board the lodge’s scheduled shuttle for the 30–45 minute drive to The Ark Lodge, located deep within the national park
1600 Hours – Afternoon Tea & Bird Feeding: Enjoy tea and coffee on the deck. At 1700 Hours, you can observe the daily bird-feeding session on the lodge’s bridge
1930 Hours – Dinner & Night Watch: Dinner is served until 2100 Hours. The rest of the night is spent viewing wildlife from the floodlit decks

Tip: You can request a “buzzer” wake-up call in your room to alert you if rare animals like leopards or rhinos visit the waterhole at night

Day 2: Aberdares to Nairobi

0630 Hours  – Early Viewing & Tea: Early morning tea/coffee is served while you catch the last of the nocturnal wildlife activity
0800 Hours – Breakfast: Full breakfast served at The Ark
0900 Hours – Transfer Back: Depart The Ark via the lodge shuttle back to the Aberdare Country Club to rejoin your driver and collect your main luggage.
1000 Hours – Optional Activities or Departure: You can choose to depart immediately for Nairobi or stay for optional activities at the Country Club, such as: Guided nature walks or bird watching (max 2 hours), Horseback riding, or a round of golf
1300 Hours – Arrival in Nairobi: Arrive back at your residence or hotel around lunchtime

The Ark Lodge is located at 1800 meters above sea level on the Aberdare Ranges, situated in the heart of the Aberdare National  Park. It is iconic and yet quickly overlooks a floodlit waterhole and salt lick, which attracts a host of awesome wildlife.

0800 Hours: This morning, our driver-guide will meet and greet you for your road departure to the Aberdare region, a beautiful mountain range in the central highlands of Kenya. Driving time from Nairobi to The Aberdare Country Club is approximately 2 ½ hours (180 km). The nearest town is Nyeri, 17 km away.

1200 Hours: Arrive for lunch at The Aberdare Country Club, where you will be assisted with the check-in formalities. The Aberdare Country Club is on a 1,300-acre wildlife sanctuary. It is a haven of unhurried charm, set in a garden bursting with a profusion of color, where peacocks live among the lush green lawns.

Overnight at The Aberdare Country Club or The Ark Tree Lodge

(Today you have an opportunity to enjoy optional activities: Day and Night Game Drives, Trekking/ Hiking in the Aberdare Moorlands, Trout Fishing, Golf, Tennis, Bush Lunches and Dinners, or just relax by the pool within the beautiful gardens.

Guests staying overnight at The Ark shall be transferred to The Ark Tree Lodge, where they will have dinner and overnight.

The following day, check out after breakfast, and transfer from The Ark to Aberdare Country Club for your onward journey to Nairobi.

Day 2: The Aberdare Country Club or the Ark Tree Lodge – Drive to Nairobi

0800 Hours: Breakfast at leisure.

1000 Hours: Drive to Nairobi.
