Majlis Resort Manda Island Lamu Archipelago is a small Luxury Beach Hotel set on Manda Island in the Lamu archipelago off Kenya’s north coast. The resort is only accessible by boat, a short 10- Minute ride from Lamu Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The resort reflects Lamu’s traditional heritage with its subtle fusion of Swahili, Arabic, and Indian architectural influences.

There are 25 exquisite superior, deluxe rooms, and junior and royal suites divided into three beachfront villas. Each villa was constructed by making use of the archipelago’s natural resources, combining white coral blocks with hand-carved timber.

Each guestroom has elegant Lamu Island style and features traditionally high beamed ceilings, large windows, and terraces offering spectacular views. There is a mini bar, work desk, safety deposit box, and furnished terrace. The bathrooms are en-suite with showers.

The Majlis Restaurant is a focal point due to its unique architecture and excellent cuisine featuring International, Italian and Swahili dishes. The dishes are prepared with local produce and fresh seasonal ingredients.

The restaurant roof reaches 14 meters high and is built in the local tradition of casuarinas and mangrove poles, covered in very long makuti (palm) leaves. The Restaurant combines an open-plan veranda on the ground floor and a terrace/bar on the first floor offering panoramic views over Ras Kitau bay.

There are two bar areas; the pool bar and the Ras Kitau bay which have a wide selection of beverages including fruit juices, cocktails, beers, wines, champagnes, and spirits. The lounge areas are ideal places to meet cocktails or to relax during the day enjoying light snacks.

Activities in Majlis Resort Manda Island Lamu Archipelago include deep sea fishing, speed boats, kayaking, kite surfing, paddle surfing, waterskiing, beach walks, jogging, mountain biking, cultural excursions, and windsurfing.

Guests can also enjoy reef and river-creek fishing, sailing with lasers, scuba diving, and sailing with the dhow. The resort has 2 gyms, one is fitted with several fitness machines (runner, exercise bike, multi-functional equipment) and the one in the garden called “the Jungle gym”.

They offer a wide variety of equipment to exercise the whole body. The massage banda offers a range of massages which include basic massage, energetic massage, and facial treatments. There are outdoor pools where guests can take a dip on hot days.

Majlis Resort Manda Island Lamu Archipelago has a conference room that is fitted with an LCD projector, a magnetic board with a flip chart, a television, and a DVD. There are also several syndicate rooms.

The private beach or the beautiful mangrove pontoon offers ideal venues for weddings and team buildings. The resort can host conferences, conventions, seminars, exhibitions, receptions, banquets, and retreats.
