You will spend 2 nights at the 4-star Kenya safari lodge in the heart of Tsavo East National Park – Severin Safari Camp.

This camp is hidden in the remote Kitani Wildlife area of Tsavo West National Park overlooking Mt. Kilimanjaro. Activities available include day and night game drives, Masai walks, a sundowner at Poacher’s Lookout, a bush walk with a Kenya Wildlife Service ranger, and bush breakfast & lunch.

This safari begins and returns to Kenya’s coastal towns of Kilifi, Watamu, Malindi, Funzi, or Shimoni to Tsavo West National Park.  Tsavo West is known for its birdlife and large mammals, especially elephants and lions. The park is also home to buffalos, rhinos, and leopards, making it a Big Five safari destination.

Other wildlife species include the bush baby, Maasai giraffe, hippo, and numerous antelopes, such as hartebeest, lesser kudu, oryx, and klipspringer. Tsavo West National Park is less arid and dusty than Tsavo East, featuring swamps, springs, and Lake Jipe. Vegetation ranges from woodlands and dense bushes to lush grasslands.

This wetter park is ideal for birdwatching, but spotting the Big Five in the rocky, vegetated hills of Tsavo West is more challenging. One of the most popular attractions is Mzima Springs, where hippos can be viewed underwater from underground hides.

This morning you will be picked up from your hotel residence at 0700 Hours and depart with your safari driver guide to Severin Safari Camp in Tsavo West National Park with a game drive on the route, arriving for a well-prepared and tasty lunch menu. Check in to your camp and relax in the lounge area with spectacular views of wildlife at the waterhole just 100 meters away.

Complete the day in Tsavo West National Park with a game drive and return to camp for dinner and overnight at Severin Safari Camp. Activities Included: Day game driving.

Day 2: Explore Tsavo West National Park

After an early wake-up call, a morning game drive is experienced. Chief among Tsavo West National Park ranks the marvel of Mzima Springs, replenished with two hundred and twenty million liters of crystal-clear water every day, from the underground streams stemming from the lava massif known as the Chyulu Hills, 40-50 kilometers away.

Mzima forms a haven for a rich wildlife pageant with elephant soaking half immersed in the waters, light-footed but ponderous looking hippo, apparently weightless, tip-toeing across the bottom, crocodiles basking on the bank or swirling through the water; gazelles, zebra, and giraffe wandering around the banks through the thick acacias and raffia palms together with hundreds of chattering monkeys and birds.

Another Afternoon game drive is planned.
