3- Day Budget Joining Safari from Mombasa departs daily and combines a train journey from Mombasa to Nairobi followed by a road safari to the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The tour is suitable for student groups, young couples, and young families.
Day 1 of the safari begins with traveling with Madaraka Express Passenger train (Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) Service from Mombasa Terminus located in Miritini to Nairobi on the 2200 hours departure and arrive in Nairobi Syokimau, the terminal at 0335 Hours. We meet and greet you then transfer you to the city and proceed by road to the Masai Mara Game Reserve.
Day 2 of your Masai Mara budget safari is spent exploring the reserve on two extensive game drives. The tented camp accommodation at the Masai Mara is in walk-in modest tents at a semi-permanent camp with basic amenities.
On day 3 which is the final day in the Masai Mara Game Reserve, an early morning game viewing drive is planned for you, or instead, you might decide to sleep in. Breakfast will be served at the camp, after which you will depart by road to Nairobi bringing your action-packed 3-day safari to a close.
Our 3 Days 2 Nights Masai Mara Game Reserve Budget Camping Safari from Mombasa includes return transport from Nairobi to the Masai Mara in Safari mini-van or 4×4 Landcruiser (maximum 7 guests), park entrance fees, game drives in Masai Mara, and 2-night accommodation on a full board basis.
Accommodation could be a choice of any of the following camps located close to the entrance of the Masai Mara Ololaimutia gate. This includes Jambo Mara Safari Lodge, Olmoran Tented Camp, Mara Sopa Lodge, and Enkorok tented Camp. Others include Simba Oryx Camp, Topi Lodge, Rhino Tourist Camp, Emayian Luxury Camp, Manyatta Camp, Mara Chui Camp, and Sidai Camp.
Each camp/lodge offers permanent tents which have been tastefully decorated and furnished with double beds and mosquito nets. The tents have en-suite bathrooms with flush toilets, washbasins, and hot showers. Each tent has its own veranda where guests can sit back and watch the bush.
Camp facilities include bar and lounge areas, a shop selling locally-made products, and an airy restaurant designed in the style of a traditional African hut.

Day 1: Nairobi – Drive to Masai Mara Game Reserve
3 Day-Masai Mara Kenya budget safari from Mombasa begins with an early pickup transfer from the Nairobi Terminus located at Syokimau, Nairobi upon arrival from Mombasa with the Madaraka Express Train to join other safari participants and proceed by road to Masai Mara Game Reserve.
2200 Hours: Depart Mombasa Terminus located in Miritini, Mombasa with Madaraka Express Train to Nairobi
0345 Hours: Upon arrival at the Nairobi terminus located at Syokimau, Nairobi then transfer you to the city market which is the departure point
0800 Hours: Approximately Depart Nairobi for Masai Mara Game Reserve. On our way, we make a brief stop at a viewpoint to enjoy the views of the Great Rift Valley. Continue by road driving through the lower portion of the Great Rift Valley and across the iconic savannah wilderness to the world-famous Masai Mara Game Reserve.
On route, you might notice a Masai Moran (warrior) holding a single stick or a spear, standing on one foot, or herding hundreds of cows and sheep. The Masai Mara is characterized by its vast acacia-dotted plains and lakes, and its spectacular escarpments where the movie ‘Out of Africa’ was filmed.
But the animals of the Masai Mara are the real stars of the show, providing drama and intrigue against a backdrop of spectacular scenery. Arrive at the camp in time for lunch, followed by some leisure hours for a siesta before you depart for an afternoon game-viewing drive, and return back to the camp before sunset. Day 2: Discover the Masai Mara
This full day in the Masai Mara Game Reserve will be spent in search of the big cats of the Masai Mara and the spectacular wildebeest migration. Remember to keep a sharp lookout; you may witness a dramatic hunt, a solitary leopard retrieving its kill from the high branches of an acacia tree, or a herd of elephants protecting their young from predators.
Wherever you go in the vast Masai Mara Park you will see a frequent amount of wildlife such as Masai giraffes, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, wildebeest. Elephants, buffalos, zebras, and hippos are also found in great numbers.
It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal or surveying the plains for their next meal. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot but reasonably common. The reserve has over 95 species of mammals and over 400 species of birds.
Game viewing is never dull in the Mara and patience is usually rewarded with unique sightings. All meals (breakfast, lunch & dinner) will be served at the camp. Dinner and overnight at our budget camp.
