Day 1: Mombasa to Tsavo East National Park
0600 Hours – 0630 Hours: Pickup from your Mombasa hotel or resort

Day 2: Tsavo East to Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary
0600 Hours – 0800 Hours: Early morning game drive in Tsavo East, followed by breakfast.
1100 Hours: Depart Tsavo East and drive toward Taita Hills (approx. 1 hour)
1230 Hours – 1300 Hours: Arrive at Taita Hills Safari Resort & Spa for lunch
1430 Hours: Transfer and check-in to Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge, known for its unique stilt-house design

This is the perfect short wildlife safari for guests wanting a taste of the Big Five Wildlife Safari experience from the beaches of Mombasa. The tour combines 1 night in Tsavo East National Park and 1 night at Taita Hills Game Sanctuary.
Beginning and ending in Mombasa, your 3-day safari departs by road to Tsavo East National Park, located about 173 km from Mombasa. Tsavo East National Park is a natural area of flat, dry plains, with thorny bushes and swampy marshland near the river.
Tsavo East National Park is home to giraffes, gazelles, hartebeests, and zebras, as well as the “Big Five” must-see animals – buffalo, African elephants, lions, rhinos, and leopards.
The main attractions of Tsavo East include Mudanda Rock, Lugard Falls, Crocodile Point, Aruba Dam, Kanderi Swamp, Yatta Plateau, and River Galana. Activities in the park include game drives, bird/ nature walks, visiting local villages, balloon safaris, and cultural dances.
After exploring Tsavo East National Park, we proceed the following day to Taita Hills Game Sanctuary, located only 45 km away. Taita Hills Game Sanctuary is a privately-owned wildlife sanctuary located in the Coast Province in Taita-Taveta District.
It hosts Buffalo, Elephant, Leopard, Lion, Giraffe, Zebra, Hartebeest, Impala, Waterbuck, Thomson’s gazelle, lesser kudu, dik-dik, and other smaller animals, as well as a great diversity of birdlife.

3 Days Mombasa Safari Tsavo East Taita Hills Sanctuary Itinerary
Day 1: Mombasa North or South Coast Beach Hotel – Drive to Tsavo East National Park
0700 Hours: After breakfast at your hotel in Mombasa, we pick you up and depart by road to Tsavo East National Park, located about 160 kilometers – approximately 2½ hours’ drive from Mombasa.
Upon arrival at Bachuma Gate, the entrance to Tsavo East National Park, we proceed on a game drive, exploring Aruba Dam and Kanderi Swamp, where most animals come to drink.
Tsavo East National Park is one of the world’s greatest Wildlife Sanctuaries, noted for its vast elephant herds and a variety of wild animals, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, buffalo, and other plain game.
1200 Hours: Lunchtime will get you to the lodge, where you will check in, enjoy a lunch buffet, and relax at the lodge/camp.
1600 Hours: We depart the lodge for an afternoon game drive in search of more animals. The park has Lions, Elephants, Buffalo, giraffes, Gazelles, zebras, hyenas, and warthogs, amongst others.

Day 2: Tsavo East National Park – Drive to Taita Hills Game Sanctuary
0630 Hours: Enjoy an early morning game drive
0900 Hours: After a hearty breakfast at your hotel in Tsavo, you will depart by road to Taita Hills Game Sanctuary.
1200 Hours: Have lunch on arrival at Taita Hills Lodge. After lunch, game drive in the sanctuary until sunset.
During our afternoon game drive, you may see lions, cheetahs, baboons, giraffes, elephants, etc.
1900 Hours: Dinner and overnight at Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge. Salt Lick Lodge is especially memorable for its imaginative structure.
A complex of rondavels sits on stilts over a series of water holes. The two-store towers, topped by peaked thatch roofs, are connected by open-air bridges, creating an African fantasy of a medieval fortress.
The lodge has been built with game viewing in mind – you can see animals in all directions because it offers spectacular open views.
