Amboseli Bush Camp Kimana

Amboseli Bush Camp is a self-catering rustic bush camp nestled within the Amboseli ecosystem in the Kimana area, just outside Amboseli National Park, in the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro, on 300 acres of private property.

The camp is 30 minutes’ (5 km) drive away from Amboseli National Park’s Kimana entrance gate, and 229 km from Nairobi (approximately a 3-hour drive).  Scheduled flights land at Amboseli National Park Airstrip, which is about a 45-minute drive to the camp.

The property has no fences and, as a result, is an important migratory corridor for all sorts of fauna. Amboseli Bush Camp has two separate self-catering camps (Upper Camp and Lower Camp), consisting of 2 and 4 tents respectively.  Each tent features its own private kitchen, lounge, and outdoor fireplace.

Accommodation is in comfortable safari tents, with bathrooms and en-suite toilets. Guests must bring their food and drink. There is a spacious outdoor kitchen, campfire, and a cozy lounge with a wooden deck overlooking the amazing Amboseli plains and Great views of Mt Kilimanjaro, with plenty of wildlife visiting the camp’s two watering holes.

The lounge area is dotted with quirky artefacts and books. The kitchen contains a gas cooker, a fridge with a freezer (a real life-saver, considering Amboseli is very warm), a water dispenser, and even a blender, all cutlery and crockery as well as running water.

The camp accommodation is on a self-catering basis, but the camp staff will assist with housekeeping and cleaning. There is solar power for lighting throughout the camp as well as the tents.

Amboseli National Park is home to large herds of elephants, wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, hyena, gazelle, and impala. Cheetah and lion are often seen, either hunting on the plains or at rest in the undergrowth. Over 400 bird species, including 40 raptors, have been recorded in Amboseli.
