Amboseli Bush Camp is a self-catering rustic bush camp located in Kimana area just outside Amboseli National Park in the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro in 300 acres of private property.

The camp is 30 minutes’ drive away from Amboseli National Park, 229 km from Nairobi (approximately a 3-hour drive) and around 15 km from Kimana town. 

Scheduled flights land at Amboseli National Park Airstrip which is about 45 minutes’ drive to the camp. The property has no fences and as a result is an important migratory corridor for all sorts of fauna.

Amboseli Bush Camp has two separate self-catering camps (upper and main tents) consisting of 3 and 2 tents respectively.  Each tent features its own private kitchen, lounge and outdoor fireplace. Accommodation is in comfortable safari tents, with bathrooms and en-suite toilets.

Guests must bring their own food and drink. There is a spacious outdoor kitchen, campfire and a comfortable lounge with a wooden deck overlooking the amazing Amboseli plains and Great views of Mt Kilimanjaro, with plenty of wildlife visiting the camps two watering holes.

The lounge area is dotted with quirky artefacts and books. The kitchen contains a gas cooker, a fridge with a freezer (a real life-saver, considering Amboseli is very warm), water dispenser and even a blender, all cutlery and crockery as well as running water.

The camp accommodation is on self-catering basis but the camp staff will assist with housekeeping and cleaning. There is solar power for lighting throughout the camp as well as the tents.

Amboseli National Park is home to large herds of elephants, wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, hyena, gazelle and impala. Cheetah and lion are often seen, either hunting on the plains or at rest in the undergrowth. Over 400 bird species including 40 raptors have been recorded in Amboseli. 

Amboseli Bush Camp activities include; sundowners, bush dinners, day game drives, nature walks, night game drives, village visits or just stare for hours at the highest mountain in Africa (Mt Kilimanjaro).

* Conditions in Amboseli National Park are warm and dry
* Evenings from May until September can get chilly and quite windy
* Early morning activities, such as game drives, require warm clothing
* A conservation and community fee of 5 US Dollars per night per person will be payable by all our guests
* The ‘long rains’ usually fall from mid-March to mid-May while the ‘short rains’ are from late October to mid-December
* Please note that the base rate is quoted for 2 people having exclusive use of the the tents. Any extra persons will be chargeable at 15 US Dollars for the Main Camp and 25 US Dollars for the Upper Camp per night
