Explore Nature Mara Lodge is a budget safari accommodation situated in a timeless, unspoiled setting with fiery sunset views, stretching to the distant horizons of the Masai Mara, with some of the highest concentrations of wildlife in the world.

The lodge is surrounded by two rivers, the Sand River and the Oloolaimutia River, next to the Masai Mara game reserve. The lodge is a 15-minute drive from Ololaimutia Gate. Explore Nature Mara Lodge can be reached either by road or by air.

The distance from Nairobi to Masai Mara is approximately 250 km. It takes around 5-6 hours by road, while flying takes about 45 minutes. 

Explore Nature Mara Lodge offers two types of cottages, depending on your preferences and comfort level.  There are four double traditional tents and four brick cottages, all with en suite bathrooms. We designed the entire lodge to ensure that each cottage is private and quiet, whether for honeymooners or families with young children.

The eight cottages are built in a crescent design, with makuti thatched roofs to keep the rooms cool. We also have one family cottage which can accommodate approximately 8 people.

The Lodge facilities include bars, a children’s menu, a gift shop, hair dryers, outdoor dining, a swimming pool, Wi-Fi, and wheelchair-accessible rooms. Other Services provided at the lodge include: babysitting, catering for special diets, conference planning, laundry, nature Walks, sundowners, turndown service & Wedding Planning.

The dining room includes a large, outdoor patio with makuti thatched roof-shaded tables for those who wish to enjoy an open-air meal during the day or delight in our often warm and balmy evenings.

The delicious food consists of Continental, Swahili (Kenya Coast), and Mediterranean cuisines, often with a mouth-watering fusion of all three. These are complemented by a selection of home-baked bread and garden-fresh fruits and vegetables.

The lounge area in the main public area building is split into upper and lower levels. The main bar is located between these levels. Its walls were built using mazeras and a zebra-painted panel finish. Enjoy the cozy ambiance, romantically subtle concealed lighting, tall, locally made bar stools, and tasty cocktails.

Masai Mara Non-Resident Park Fees

* 100 US Dollars per adult, per night from 1st January to 30th June
* 200 US Dollars per adult, per night from 1st July to 31st December
* 50 US Dollars per child, per night all year (aged 3 to 17 years inclusive)
