Porini Amboseli Camp

Porini Amboseli Camp is an award-winning traditional safari camp located in the 15,000 acres Selenkay Conservancy, a Masai-owned conservancy within the Amboseli Eco-system, about 16.1 km from Amboseli National Park.

The camp lies 230 km South of Nairobi and close to the Tanzanian border and Mount Kilimanjaro. Driving time from Nairobi takes approximately 4 hours and only 35 minutes by Air. Charter flights land at Selenkay Airstrip which is very close to the Camp.

Selenkay Conservancy is an important wildlife dispersal area for wildlife moving out of Amboseli National Park. The private conservation area ensures the best possible game viewing in specially-designed, open-sided off-road (4×4) safari vehicles and away from other tourist vans and minibusses.

Porini Amboseli was one of the first eco-camps in Kenya and today is still one of the favorite camps in Amboseli National Park. Staff at Porini are all locally employed and trained Masai warriors and elders.

Porini Amboseli Safari Camp is small – with just 10 spacious guest tents – and retains all the charm and feel of the traditional mobile safari camps of days gone by. Tents are tastefully furnished and have solar-powered electric lighting with en suite bathrooms including shower, washbasin, and flush toilet.

The safari camp provides an exclusive yet friendly experience with a maximum of 20 guests at a time and it is fully inclusive of all meals, and drinks (wine, vodka, gin & tonics, beer, sodas, and mineral water) Guests enjoy local and international cuisine which is served either in the mess tent or under the shade of an Acacia tree.

In the evenings the guests can sit around the campfire and share stories. The well-stocked bar serves a variety of drinks like mineral water, soft drinks, local beer, house wine, and gin and tonics.

Porini Amboseli Camp activities include; day and night game drives, guided bush walks, bird walks, an authentic visit to a nearby Masai village, and sun-downers in stunning remote locations.

Guests can also go to sit in one of the viewing platforms that the camp has constructed over the three waterholes of the conservancy or enjoy tracking animals by identifying tracks, droppings, and other signs.
