Nairobi Day Tour Giraffe Centre explores the Giraffe Centre located at Langata, approximately 20 kilometers from the centre of Nairobi, Kenya.

The Giraffe Centre is a wonderful and refreshing experience undertaken during African Spice Safaris excursion in Nairobi.

Nairobi Day Tour of the Giraffe Centre also known as African Fund for Endangered Wildlife gives a completely up close and personal interaction where guests have the opportunity to view giraffes as well as feed them.

The centre has rescued, hand-reared and released around 500 orphaned giraffes back into the wild since opening in 1979.

Young giraffes born at the Centre were translocated to; Soysambu Ranch near Lake Elementaita, Kigio Conservancy near Gilgil an Sergoit ranch in Eldoret.

Others were recently translocated to Mwea National Game Reserve and Ruma National Park.

Today the Rothschild Giraffe population in Kenya is about 300. The Nairobi Day Tour of the Giraffe Centre combines conservation, education as well as a very hands-on experience for visitors.

Not only can you observe the Giraffes in their natural habitat but you can also get up close and personal. From a raised wooden platform you can observe, hand-feed and pat the Giraffes.

All education programmes are offered to them free of charge. The Giraffe Centre derives 90% of its funds from the entrance fee collected and from the sales in the gift shop and teahouse.

Giraffe Centre Nature Sanctuary Day Walks

The Giraffe Centre Nature Sanctuary approximately 95 acres is an indigenous forest, a remnant of the natural forest that once surrounded Nairobi.

The nature trail/ walk stretches about 1.5 kilometers meandering through thick bushes and forests. This leisurely stroll begins directly in front of the parking lot at the Giraffe Centre.

There are variety of flora and fauna that make this forest an ideal habitat for various animals including the giraffes, hyenas, butterflies, dragonflies, birds, warthogs, bushbucks, monkeys, squirrels and sometimes we get leopard.

Activities such as nature walks, bird walks, tree identification walks (Botanical walks nature interactive learning and treasure hunts can be arranged.

Nairobi Night Game Drive Safari are a more exciting way to spend a couple of hours in Nairobi National Park. The Park is completely different in the dark. The big cats come out to hunt and you will see animals you won't see during the day.

It’s a completely different world. Lions sleep all day and hunt in the evening, most of the cats are active just before and after sunset and this is when we take our guests on night game drives.

With a spotter and a light we look and listen for the animals, it’s an amazing experience. Animal behavior is quite different at night so observing the animals in the dark is a big part of any of our night safaris.

Our Nairobi Night Game Drive Safari in Nairobi National Park are conducted by experienced driver guides in our safari cruisers or land cruisers that are fitted with powerful lights for proper sightseeing at night.

The powerful game spotting spotlights, a game spotter or game ranger in the vehicle helps you to see animals such as hippo, porcupines, civet cats, white-tailed mongoose, aardvarks, cape hares, rhino, leopard, lion, giraffe, topi, wildebeest, zebra, eland, hartebeest, night owls, hare, dik dik among many others.

Nairobi Night Game Drive Safari depart daily at 1900 Hours to 2200 Hours when you return back to your hotel for dinner or 2100 Hours to 0000 Hours after you have enjoyed dinner at your hotel.
