Beginning and ending in Nairobi, the trip takes you to Lake Naivasha, a small, beautiful freshwater lake rich in bird life, and the Masai Mara Game Reserve – Kenya’s finest and most outstanding wildlife sanctuary.
Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake and is part of the Great Rift Valley. The name derives from the local Masai name Nai’posha, meaning “rough water” because of the sudden storms that can arise. The lake is home to a variety of wildlife; over 400 different species of birds have been reported.
This freshwater lake is a birding paradise. There is a sizeable population of hippos in the lake. Along the lake’s fabled waters, we are bound to see some of the area’s more intriguing species – Hippos, Giraffes, Buffalo, and even the arboreal Colobus monkey.
Our next destination is the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The Masai Mara provides the best view of the famous wildebeest migration as the animals cross the Mara River between July and August.
The Mara is also home to the richest concentration of wildlife, including the “Big Five” (elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, and buffalo), zebras, antelope, gnus, Oribis, hyenas, giraffes, warthogs, gazelles, hartebeests, hippos, crocodiles, and others.
The park has the largest concentration of African lions, including the black-maned lion. Birdlife is as plentiful as the wildlife in the Masai Mara, which boasts over 400 bird species.
The safari includes all park and reserve fees, a boat ride on Lake Naivasha, game drives in the Masai Mara, return transport from Nairobi, the services of a professional safari driver-guide, and full-board accommodation for 3 nights in a superb-quality, well-located lodge/camp.
