Julia’s River Camp Masai Mara is a tented safari accommodation located along the banks of the Talek River in Masai Mara.  The camp is situated 8 km from Talek Gate, within the Masai Mara Nature Reserve. The Camp can be reached either by road or by air.

The distance from Nairobi to Masai Mara is approximately 250 km. It takes around 5-6 hours by road while flying time takes about 45 minutes. Hidden on a sleepy bend of the Talek River, in the midst of the Masai Mara’s endless savannah, our exclusive Tented Camp is the perfect place to start your safari.

Julia’s River Camp Masai Mara’s spectacular location on the river guarantees an abundance of wildlife viewing without even leaving the camp: lions, buffalos, wildebeest, elephants, and even leopards regularly come to drink! All our tents are pitched along the banks of the Talek, only a few feet from the river, and sit on their own elevated wooden platform, offering privileged views.

With a total of 28 tents, Julia’s camp is made up of 3 different sub-camps: 

* Hippo Camp (Classic Tent) with 12 dome tents.
* Buffalo Camp (Classic Superior Tent) with large Savannah Tents
* VIP Camp with 4 extra-large savannah tents ideal setting for honeymooners and private groups

The Hippocamp is the most economical budget option. This camp has 12 dome tents comprising sewn-in mosquito nets, comfortable beds with fine cotton sheets, and duvets. All hippo camp tents also have bedside tables, solar-powered lighting, private en-suite bathrooms with hot running water 24 hours a day, and flushing toilets.

The Buffalo Camp comprises 12 large savannah tents with sewn-in mosquito nets, comfortable beds with fine cotton sheets and duvets, bedside tables, solar-powered lighting, and private en-suite bathrooms with hot running water 24 hours and flushing toilets.

Furthermore, Buffalo Camp offers shade netting for a cooler tent and a larger bathroom and bedroom, offering the best combination between price and comfort.

The VIP Camp; comprises 4 extra-large savannah tents with sewn-in mosquito nets, single or double comfortable beds with fine cotton sheets and duvets, bedside tables, solar-powered lighting, and a private en-suite bathroom with hot running water 24 hours daily and a flushing toilet.

The VIP camp is located in a secluded wood on the river bank and is the ideal setting for honeymooners and private groups. The tents are located in different sections of the camp and feature a seating area, solar-powered lighting, and an en-suite bathroom with hot-running water 24 hours a day. Towels are also provided.

Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant with special diet menus available on request. The property also offers packed lunches. There are 3 different communal mess tents where guests can relax and enjoy a drink at the end of a long day’s safari.

Julia’s River Camp Masai Mara activities include; a nature walk, Maasai village visits, bush dinner & balloon safari, and game drives in open 4×4 Toyota Land Cruisers.

Full Board Accommodation + 16% Value Added Tax & Catering levy at 2%

* Should the government increase taxes or introduce new taxes, the Company reserves the right to modify the rates

Children and Families

* Children under 5 years old: free of charge
* Children 5-16 years: 50% discount on the adult rate
* Children 0-16 years old must share a tent with an adult
* Family rooms: available upon request. Maximum 4 guests (or 4 plus 1 infant) with at least one child of 5-16 years in the party
