The Rhino Valley Lodge (formerly Ngulia Safari Camp or Ngulia Bandas) is a luxury eco-lodge in the Sheldrick Conservation Lodges Kenya group. Like Galdessa, Umani, or Ithumba, your money goes directly toward wildlife protection and large conservation projects.

Rhino Valley Lodge is an iconic wilderness property nestled against the rugged backdrop of the Ngulia Hills in the heart of Tsavo West National Park, Kenya. It is famous for its panoramic views of the Tsavo landscape and a popular waterhole that offers direct wildlife viewing.

As Rhino Valley Lodge Tsavo West National Park is located in remote wilderness areas, guests must come fully prepared with all provisions for the duration of their stay, including ingredients for meals and drinks.

Things to Bring: Beyond your food, drinks, and everyday essentials, a few thoughtful additions can enhance your stay. Pack a hat, sunglasses, and high-strength sunscreen, along with insect repellent and sturdy shoes.

A personal first aid kit is always worth packing. Light layers will keep you comfortable by day, while you’ll reach for a warm fleece or jumper on crisp evenings. For wildlife watching, binoculars and a camera are essential. Finally, portable speakers, playing cards, or a favorite game all add to the relaxed camp atmosphere.

Rhino Valley Lodge Tsavo West National Park offers refined, well-appointed accommodations in some of Kenya’s wildest corners. Bedrooms are fully enclosed, while common areas open to the surrounding bush. Please note that they have open-air, outdoor showers.

Power & Internet: The lodge has solar power and backup generators. Wifi is available in common areas and some rooms, though connectivity can be unreliable. Please note that you cannot use high-voltage items, like hair dryers, at our properties.

Orphan Adoption: To stay at Rhino Valley Lodge Tsavo West National Park, you must be a current foster parent to one of the orphans in our care. Adopting an orphan is a meaningful but easy process that directly supports our pioneering elephant conservation work

Rhino Valley Lodge Tsavo West National Park has 6 standard rooms, 10 luxury rooms (Rock Rooms offering a unique caveman experience), 6 self-catering bandas each equipped with an en-suite twin room and a well-equipped kitchenette, and a campsite with bathroom facilities.

The bandas are set against the backdrop of the rugged but scenic Ngulia Hills. There are 6 self-catering bandas, each tastefully furnished with rugged twin beds, a well-equipped kitchenette, and a complete bathroom suite that will provide the comforts of home away from home.

Guests can prepare their own meals or dine at the on-site lodge restaurant. The lodge guestrooms are en-suite and have mosquito nets, luggage racks, and a furnished veranda.

There is a modern gourmet restaurant with an elaborate menu specifically designed for those who love the outdoors. There is also a well-stocked ‘tree bar’ where guests can enjoy themselves under wide starry tropical skies and in the warmth of a campfire.

The camp is lit by a super-silent generator that complies with stringent international wildlife and environmental requirements. The spacious grounds provide ideal venues for weddings and team-building activities.

Activities in Ngulia Bandas Tsavo West National Park include day game drives, nature walks, sundowners, bird watching, game viewing, and night game drives. Guests can also enjoy rock climbing up the Ngulia Hills and visits to Mzima Springs, the Rhino Sanctuary, and the Shetani Lava Flow.

Stays at Rhino Valley Lodge Tsavo West National Park (operated by the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust) is booked on an exclusive-use, self-catering basis
This means your rate secures the entire property for your private group. While the trust provides a dedicated staff team to handle the cooking, cleaning, and guiding, you must bring all of your own food, drinks, and fresh drinking water. 

Additionally, to be eligible to book a stay at the Rhino Valley Lodge Tsavo West National Park, at least one person in your traveling party must be an active foster parent (sponsor) of a Sheldrick elephant orphan.
