Samburu Intrepids Tented Camp

Samburu Intrepids Tented Camp is a lush oasis situated on the banks of the great Ewaso Ngiro River within the Samburu Game Reserve. The tented luxury camp is a delight to be in — deliciously cooled by the river breeze and the surrounding forest.

Perched on raised decks overlooking the brown river, the camp offers a front-row seat to the wilderness, where elephants sometimes appear and crocodiles lounge on the river’s banks.

Designed with a classic safari aesthetic, the camp features 28 modern and newly refurbished tents that offer privacy and a deep connection to the arid landscape. It serves as a premier base for exploring the dramatic wilderness of Northern Kenya, renowned for its unique wildlife and cultural richness.

Samburu Intrepids Tented Camp sits on raised decks overlooking the brown Ewaso Nyiro River and features 28 modern, luxury tents, including double and single tents. Each thatched-roof tent is tastefully fitted with 4-poster beds, mahogany closets, a work desk, a balcony, and an en-suite bathroom with a steaming hot shower, twin washbasins, and a flush toilet.

The thatched guest seating area, dining room, and bar are located in a single structure where guests can spend time with a good hardcover from the camp library while sipping a cool drink. The lounge and bar area also offers an ideal venue where the Samburu naturalists deliver fascinating slide shows on most evenings and an intimate conference room with a television for viewing wildlife documentaries.

The camp serves an appetizing range of dishes that can be enjoyed on the private veranda or at one of a series of specially selected ‘bush sites’ close to camp. Samburu Intrepids Camp features a free-form swimming pool, a sunbathing garden, and a boutique selling souvenirs and safari essentials.

Samburu Game Reserve is home to elephants (present in large numbers, it is estimated that in the Samburu Laikipia Ecosystem, there are more than 900), Grant gazelles, impalas, waterbucks, dik-diks, hippos, olive baboons, warthogs, lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffalos, hyenas, elands, jackals, klipspringer, mongooses, and bats, wild dogs.

There are also more than 450 different species of birds, including sunbirds, bee-eaters, kingfishers, woodpeckers, hornbills, barbets, whydahs, bishops, weavers, shrikes, fiscals, francolins, rollers, doves, starlings, oxpeckers, herons, egrets, Vulturine, and Helmeted guineafowls, and many others.
