Mara River Camp Mara North Conservancy

Mara River Camp is a classic tented safari accommodation nestled at the foot of the Oloololo Escarpment and on the northwest boundary of Kenya’s famous Maasai Mara National Reserve overlooking the Mara River. The camp is situated a few minutes’ drive from the Kichwa Tembo airstrip or Musiara. The camp can be reached either by road or by air. The distance from Nairobi to Masai Mara is approximately 250 km. It takes around 5 hours by road while flying time takes about 45 minutes.

The camp has 22 tents and 3 deluxe tents and 1 – two bedroom log cabin with sitting room and private decking overlooking the majestic Mara River, drawing elephants, wildebeest, zebra, and other animals, which are regularly sighted. The permanent walk-in tents all have beds with linen provided, en-suite bathrooms with flush toilets, washbasins, and hot showers, and are fitted with mosquito nets. The tents are well positioned with forestry views and facing the majestic Mara River. The camp as bar and lounge areas, a shop stocked with local crafts, an outdoor swimming pool, a garden, and a spacious restaurant that offers buffet meals. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate are provided at the camp before morning game drives.

The Masai Mara National Reserve is undoubtedly Kenya’s most famous Big 5 safari destination. Game viewing is excellent all year round with elephant, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, and giraffe grazing wearily while big cats lurk hungrily in the grass. A Masai Mara safari is famous for excellent sightings of lions, cheetahs, and leopards. The highlight of any Masai Mara safari in Kenya is however the arrival of the massive herds of wildebeest and zebra between August and November. These mega herds arrive as part of the wildebeest Great Migration between the Serengeti and the Masai Mara. Lucky safari adventurers will get to witness the adrenaline-fueled crossing of the Mara River, a life-and-death drama that plays out between the wildebeest and hungry crocodiles that lie in waiting.

Mara River Camp offers both road and fly-in packages. The full board package includes includes bed, breakfast, lunch & dinner while the fly-in package includes return flights from Nairobi, full board accommodation, 2 game drives per day or full day game drive with packed lunch.

Activities or things to do while at Mara River Camp in Masai Mara include watching the Great Wildebeest Migration, morning and afternoon game drives, night game drives, bird watching, hot air balloon rides, bush meals such as breakfast, lunch or dinner, nature walks or wildlife treks, visits to a traditional Maasai tribal village, horseback safaris, sun-downers, visiting Masai Mara private Conservancies and visiting the Mara River.

Mara River Camp

Mara River Camp comprises 22 tents and 1 two-bedroom ensuite log cabin with a kitchen and dining facilities. The tents have a patio with a view of the forest of the river. From either the decking at the log cabin or from patios overlooking the Mara River, guests can enjoy great game views from the luxury of their own private tent.

The camp has a unique architecture with rustic and bush environment finishings. It has beautiful outdoor spaces with a swimming pool right at the heart of the camp. Both the luxury tents and the log cabin have modern amenities. Each tent features a patio with a view of the Mara River. It comes with a seating area and the private bathroom includes a shower.

The restaurant offers a wide variety of cuisines. This can be customized to suit individuals’ preferences, with flexible timings. Mara’s in-house restaurant offers buffet meals. Bush breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Coffee, tea, and snacks are provided at the camp before morning game drives, and guests can enjoy beverages on the evening game drives

Mara River Camp also features a swimming pool, garden, and free WiFi available in public areas.

Activities at the Camp include; archery, bird watching, walking safari, hot air balloon safaris, bush breakfasts, bush dinners, mountain climbing, Masai cultural talks, visiting Masai village, and guided nature walks.
