Murera Cottages Meru National Park

Murera Cottages are located northwest of  Meru National Park, close to the Murera Gate, and about 348 km from Kenya’s capital Nairobi.  Meru National Park is located in Meru Country in Kenya’s Eastern Province below the eastern slopes of Nyambene Hills. The Park lies 85 Km east of Meru town. It is managed by the Kenya wildlife service on behalf of the Central Government.

Murera Cottages are 2 bedroom fully furnished stone chalets (6 units) that sleep 3 guests each. Each guestroom has a mosquito net, kerosene lamp, and en-suite bathroom with a water closet. Each chalet has a verandah. The chalets are offered on a self-catering basis and guests are welcome to prepare their own meals.

There is an outdoor barbecue, an outside dining area, and a washing-up area. No kitchen equipment is provided and guests come with their own equipment. There is an education center that houses the education warden’s office, a library, and a fully equipped conference hall with informative displays on Kenya’s wildlife areas and tribal cultures.

Meru National Park is linked to Nairobi by all whether roads via Murera gate. There are two routes: (a) From Nairobi (348 km), via Embu-Meru- Mau-Murera gate via all-weather roads. The junction to the park is before you reach Mau town. (b) From Nairobi (348 km), via Nyeri-Nanyuki-Meru-Mau-Murera Gate via an all-weather road. Access to the park from Maua to Murera Gate (35 km)

Flights From Nairobi: Daily flights depart Nairobi Wilson Airport. The park is served by an airstrip at Kina, Mulika next to Meru Mulika Lodge and Elsa’s Kopje airstrip. While in the Murera Cottages Meru National Park, guests can enjoy the following activities:
