4 Day 3 Nights Masai Mara & Lake Nakuru Budget Safari explores two of Kenya’s top game parks – Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru National Parks on thrilling game viewing drives over five adventure-filled days.
This Masai Mara & Lake Nakuru Budget Safari leaves from Nairobi in the morning, and travels via the floor of the scenic Great Rift Valley, arriving at the safari camp near Masai Mara in time for lunch. Then we venture into the Masai Mara Reserve on a thrilling afternoon to evening game drive. After our game drive, we return to the budget-tented camp for dinner and overnight.
Day two is set aside for game viewing in Kenya’s finest wildlife park, the Masai Mara National Reserve. Our morning and afternoon game drives take us in search of Africa’s Big Five and the plethora of other wildlife inhabiting this vast Kenyan game reserve.
These include Masai giraffes, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyenas, topis, impalas, hartebeests, and wildebeest. Elephants, lions, buffalos, zebras, and hippos are also found in great numbers. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot but reasonably common.
Later we return to our budget-tented safari camp for dinner and overnight. Our accommodations could be at any of the following camps; Jambo Mara Safari Lodge, Olmoran Tented Camp, Mara Sopa Lodge, and Enkorok tented Camp. Others include Simba Oryx Camp, Topi Lodge, Rhino Tourist Camp, Emayian Luxury Camp, Manyatta Camp, Mara Chui Camp, and Sidai Camp.
Day three of the Lake Nakuru & Masai Mara Budget Safari starts with breakfast at our camp in Masai Mara then it’s back on the road, as we make our way to our next destination in Kenya, Lake Nakuru. Upon arrival, you will check in at your budget hotel and later have dinner.

Day 1: Nairobi – Drive to the Masai Mara National Reserve
At 0800 Hours you will be picked up from your hotel in Nairobi and drive to the world-famous Masai Mara Game Reserve. We travel via the floor of the scenic Great Rift Valley, arriving at our budget safari camp near Masai Mara in time for lunch. Then we venture into the Masai Mara Reserve on a thrilling afternoon to evening game drive.
After our game drive, we return to our budget-tented camp near Masai Mara Game Reserve for dinner and relaxation.
Day 2: Masai Mara National Reserve
0630 Hours: Today is set aside for game viewing in Kenya’s finest wildlife park, the Masai Mara National Reserve. After breakfast, we leave the camp for a full-day game drive in the park. Our game drive takes us in search of Africa’s Big Five and the plethora of other wildlife inhabiting this vast Kenyan game reserve.
Wherever you go in the vast Masai Mara Park you will see a frequent amount of wildlife such as Masai giraffes, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, wildebeest. Elephants, buffalos, zebras, and hippos are also found in great numbers.
It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal or surveying the plains for their next meal. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot but reasonably common. The ultimate action here is without a doubt the annual wildebeest exodus, the Great Migration, in July and August when millions of these grazers move north from the Serengeti in search of lusher grass before turning south again in October.

Day 3: Masai Mara – Drive to Lake Nakuru
0700 Hours: Our Lake Nakuru & Masai Mara Safari starts with breakfast at our safari camp, then it’s back on the road, as we make our way to our next game-viewing destination in Kenya, Lake Nakuru National Park.
Lake Nakuru Park, attracts over 400 different bird species, including many water birds. This birding haven hosts species such as the great white pelican, African spoonbill, yellow-billed stork, lesser and greater flamingo, and long-crested eagle.
The Lake is known as an important wildlife sanctuary for some of Africa’s endangered species, especially black and white rhinos, and Rothschild’s giraffes. The game reserve is home to lions, waterbuck, buffalo, and baboons, which we keep an eye out for on our game drive.
We have dinner and overnight at our budget hotel in Nakuru.
Day 4: Lake Nakuru National Park – Drive to Nairobi
0630 Hours: We have an early breakfast and depart straight to the park. It’s a small park with magnificent, rare white rhinos which form part of the Big five animals. This Great Rift Valley lake attracts over 400 different bird species, including many water birds.

Masai Mara Tour Accommodation
Accommodation is at a budget-tented safari camp located close to the entrance to Masai Mara is the Ololaimutia gate. These budget camps feature spacious permanent tents which have been tastefully decorated and fitted with beds, linen, and mosquito nets.
The tents have en-suite bathrooms with flush toilets, washbasins, and hot showers. Each tent has its own veranda for sitting back and watching the bush. Facilities include bar and lounge areas, a shop selling locally-made products, and an airy restaurant design to resemble a traditional African hut.
Lake Nakuru Accommodation
We stay at a comfortable budget hotel located near Lake Nakuru National Park. Facilities include bars, a restaurant, and a swimming pool. Accommodation is in en-suite rooms.
Safari Transport
A custom-made minibus with a pop-up roof is used on this tour. The maximum group size is seven people, to guarantee each person a window seat on game drives. 4×4 safari Landcruiser vehicles are available at an extra cost.
