8 Days Kenya Safari Amboseli Aberdare Nakuru Masai Mara from Nairobi | 8-Day 7- Night guided wildlife tour visiting Amboseli National Park (famous for Mt Kilimanjaro views), Aberdare National Park (known for forest tree-lodges), Lake Nakuru (rhino & bird sanctuary), and the Masai Mara (the Big Five territory)

This 8-day-long wildlife safari adventure takes you through four of Kenya’s top safari destinations, giving you a complete overview of this fascinating country.

The safari begins with Amboseli National Park and its stunning view of Mt. Kilimanjaro, to the Masai Mara National Reserve, known as the finest wildlife destination in the world, with an excellent chance of seeing the Big Five.

In between, you will also visit Aberdare National Park, home to the second largest herd of black rhinos in Kenya, and Lake Nakuru National Park, renowned for the tens of thousands of flamingos.

Beginning in Nairobi, your safari opens with game viewing in Amboseli National Park, near the Tanzanian border and flanked by Mount Kilimanjaro. The park is considered one of the best game parks where you can enjoy close-range views of African Elephants in large numbers, as well as offering some of the finest wildlife photographic opportunities, all flanked by the scenic Mt Kilimanjaro.

Amboseli National Park is home to lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, hippos, and various antelope species, such as impalas. The park also boasts an abundance of birds, including bee-eaters, kingfishers, pelicans, African fish eagles and falcons.

From Amboseli, we head to the Aberdare National Park. We stay at the Ark Lodge or the Treetops Hotel and watch the animals that frequently visit the lively waterhole beside the lodge from a series of viewing decks and areas at different levels.

Spotting animals at the floodlit salt lick and water hole into the night, with common visitors including elephants, buffalo, rhinos and even leopards.

Then head to the scenic Lake Nakuru National Park, home to about 56 different species of mammals and a variety of terrestrial birds numbering nearly 450 species, and is an important sanctuary for rhinos.

Next, we travel to the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve, a quintessential African landscape home to an incredible abundance of wildlife.

Wherever you go in the vast Masai Mara, you will see a frequent amount of wildlife such as Masai giraffes, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyenas, topis, impala, hartebeests, wildebeest, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and hippos, etc.

The ultimate action here is, without doubt, the annual wildebeest exodus, the Great Migration, in July and August when millions of these grass-eaters move north from the Serengeti in search of greener grass before turning south again in October.

Hot-air balloon trips are an outstanding way to see the savannah plains teeming with wildlife. These Masai Mara balloon trips can be arranged at an extra cost.

After high tea, we set off for the Ark Tree Lodge or the Treetops Lodge, located in the forest on the mountain slopes of the Aberdare Mountains at 7,000 feet. These outstanding hotels offer high-altitude game viewing, including animals that are rarely encountered elsewhere: giant forest hog, bush pig, tree hyrax, large spotted genet, and the elusive bongo.

Wildlife can be observed from different levels – and from outside, where you can see, hear, and smell everything, and inside, where you can sit with a cup of tea and stay warm and cozy.

You can put in a request to be awakened during the night if your favorite animals show up. A herd of elephants might be just feet away, and if you are lucky, a leopard or large male Lion might put in an appearance.

This Kenyan game park has retained its reputation as an ornithologist’s delight, with more than 400 bird species. Bird species include the Great White Pelican, African Spoonbill, Yellow-billed Stork, Lesser and Greater Flamingo, and Long-crested Eagle.

Nakuru National Park surrounds the lake and was first gazetted to protect the rich bird life found here, later becoming a national park to provide sanctuary for endangered species such as the rhino.

There are about 25 white and black rhinos, one of the largest concentrations in the country. Predators are also residents of this park, while Rothschild’s giraffes have been translocated into the park for safety. This small park (180 sq km) is also home to warthogs, baboons, waterbuck, buffaloes, reedbucks, zebras and the occasional leopard.
